I just asked J about the 21 day sugar detox

And he was like, whoooooa.  Everything has sugar in it.  Is that even good for us?  Even people with diabetes need sugar.

I'm taking that as a no, lol.

I try to cut out obvious sugars, like sweets, dessert, and sugary drinks. I don't think I'd do very well on a diet that cuts out anything with sugar.

Can you guys eat fruit on this detox?

It depends on the level, but generally yes, in limited quantities. The most difficult level allows one non-ripe banana or one green apple. It's designed to cut out anything with a sweet taste, even if the sugar is "natural."

This seems odd. I thought the best fruits if limiting sugar and maximizing nutritional value and fiber were berries. Bananas are among the worst (also, grapes and watermelon).

It's more about the taste of sweet - green apples and not-ripes bananas taste less sweet than the berries. It's more about the food-reward aspect of these foods than the actual sugar content.

Well, that just seems like masochism for the point of masochism. Lol.

Haha, I suppose. 

There's also something about the ratio of glucose to fructose that matters. I don't understand it enough to explain it, I'd have to look up this answer.
