I've decided to give up soda except stuff I make at home with my sodastream, but it's unrelated to lent (i'm athiest). At least you'll all be suffering with me

Sweets. I have been horrible lately - it's my go-to when I'm in a crappy mood. I figure by giving them up and using other methods to center myself, I'll have kicked the habit for a while.
Ok, I'm going to need know where you work, who in hr I send my résumé to and how much m&ms daily are talking? Also, peanut, regular, peanut butter, etc?

I have some addicted co-workers for sure
Regular, peanut, and sometimes pretzel or dark chocolate. We have dispensers!

Yes - I will be suffering - I'm nervous about the caffiene headaches I will have to endure,
Not giving anything up. Committing to saying prayers each night before going to sleep since I've gotten way away from that. Also to do at least 1 random act of kindness each week. I wish I could say this was a regular occurence in my life, but not as often as I would like.
I'm giving up diet coke too. I don't keep it at home but I usually find a reason to be by a mcdonalds nearly everyday to get one. Yum. I love fountain diet coke especially.

I grew up Quaker so...yeah. We didn't do Lent. My wife was raised Catholic and her parents still are, though, and I've done something for the last few years. I don't usually give something up, I try to add something to help me refocus and improve myself. This year I'm trying to make sure I get at least 20 minutes of actual exercise every day.
I usually don't give anything up, but take Lent as a time to center myself in thoughts, prayer, and being less of an asshole.
You put this so eloquently that I'm borrowing it. Seriously though, I am hoping to re-center myself in prayer, scripture, and reaching out to those around me in need.
I used to be very determined & disciplined in what I gave up (usually either pop, chocolate, or some other food.) I'm not Catholic, so I've now kind of settled on trying to do something instead of give up something during Lent.
I gave up pop for New Year and haven't had any since Dec 31. I'm have been over compensating with other sugars. I am trying to give sugar in general up now but it has little to do with Lent (not Catholic).
