Why isn't the new Connect interface letting me upload the data from my 210? It loads my Vivofit just fine. I had to switch back to the old view to get the 210 data uploaded. Then it didn't count the steps that I'd taken while wearing the 210 into consideration, so my step count was off yesterday. Apparently I'm supposed to wear the Vivofit, too?
I'm sure this doesn't make any sense, but I wanted to complain anyway.
I don't know. I have a 210 also, and sometimes it lets me upload just fine, other times it tells me I don't have the right plugin. No idea why it goes back & forth. I'm super annoyed w/ Garmin Connect.
Can I ask a super dumb question? What advantage does using a garmin or whatever have over just using mapmyrun or similar?
With the Garmin you can see your pace instantly without having to pull your phone out (or map your run after you get home). Mine is waterproof, so no worries if it's raining.
I think that before phone GPS's got more precise, there was more added value in a Garmin. Maybe not as much anymore, but I'll never replace my GPS watch with my phone.
Ah, I see. I have the mapmyrun lady tell me my pace and splits every 5 minutes, so I get it that way. And my arm band is waterproof. I keep finding myself wanting a garmin, but then I can't figure out what it does that my phone doesn't do.

Mainly I don't listen to music or anything so I really prefer not to have to carry my phone along. Also I find it to be a little more accurate. I was using runkeeper pre-Garmin (which granted was a few years ago) and it would sometimes lose satellite for whole miles, depending on where I was running.
I don't carry my phone. I hate an armband and don't like carrying anything extra. That's why I want a gps watch and system that are reliable. It's just annoying to pay so much for a product and not be able to use it to the full extent.
I carry all the things. I can't help it, I like stuff.
Ha! You should have seen me carrying my phone at that Princess 5K...there's a great picture of me at the finish line fumbling with it to try to stop the stopwatch because I forgot to put my watch on. Me = goober.
