What's your biggest pet peeve on the boards? I love asking this question.
It doesn't happen so much on GBCN, but I hate when people use text speak and poor grammar/spelling on message boards. One of the reasons I can't stand to go on TB anymore.
Here, I would have to say that it's annoying to have the same questions repeated over and over again (registry help, BF advice, sleep training, etc.). There is a search function, people!
I'd love to do a month-long tour of Europe. I've been to Italy and the UK, but would love to spend some time in France, Germany, Austria, Norway, Denmark, and Greece.
I get really annoyed when people feel like it's okay to comment on or criticize my parenting choices. DH's aunt gave me a lecture about how we should have started giving DD rice cereal when she was a few weeks old to help her sleep, and she was aghast that we were doing BLW with her. Also, my mom lectures me all the time about how I need to put a coat or snowsuit on DD when she's in the carseat, even though I've tried explaining the new carseat safety rules to her.
Hmmm... What's your favorite snack and non alch drink?
What is your dream job?
I love a good dip, especially hot artichoke dip. Helluva Good jalapeno cheddar dip is also like crack to me. For a n/a drink, probably an Arnie Palmer (1/2 iced tea and 1/2 lemonade), which I drink all the time in the summer.
I used to work in development as a grant writer and think it would be so interesting and rewarding to be on the other side of the philanthropy process. Maybe something in corporate giving or working for a private foundation?
Are you ready for this ridiculous winter to be over?
Do you have any irrational fears?
YESSSSS! Although have you seen the 10-day forecast? Amazing.
I am afraid of ketchup. The smell and texture makes me want to vomit. I can't even wash dishes that have ketchup remnants on them; I have to put on rubber gloves so I don't accidentally touch it.
If you could have a second home anywhere, where would it be and why?
What's been the coolest thing about being a parent?
What are your thoughts on hot air balloon rides?
Somewhere exotic and warm, so I could escape the awful Midwest winters. Maybe Fiji or Tahiti?
Watching DD grow and change into her own little person. She brings so much joy into my life; I had a hard time bonding with the idea of a baby when I was pregnant, and now I can't even imagine my life without her.
I went on a hot air balloon ride along the Mississippi River valley during the peak of fall colors a few years ago and it was absolutely stunning and not at all scary. My favorite part was when the pilot dipped the balloon down to touch the water (he called it a "splash and dash"). So amazing!
Hard to pick a favorite show, but I am currently into Call the Midwife, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black. I also enjoy bingeing on Saved By the Bell on Netflix occasionally.
All-time favorite is Gone With the Wind. Recent favorite is Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
What was your most challenging moment of parenting so far?
What was your best moment of parenting so far?
Why did you choose your screen name?
If you could visit a place in a book, where would you go?
Most challenging is adjusting to life as a SAHM. This winter was especially isolating due to bad weather, and there were many days when I was ready to pull my hair out when DH got home.
Best is watching DD develop a love for books. We started reading to her at birth and by 3-4 months she was actively turning pages. The other day she pulled a book off the shelf and crawled into my lap for an impromptu storytime. Love!
I joined GBCN as another SN from my Nest days, but eventually decided to start fresh with something a bit more anonymous ("grey"). I was watching Downton Abbey at the time and thought "lady" paired well with it (also see my profile pic).
