I read somewhere that they wouldn't end on a sad note because it would leave a bad taste in fans' mouths and hurt syndication. Who knows if that is taken into account, but I'm just holding out hope that they end it on a good note.
Like the last two seasons? Honestly, them ending it in some shitty way would, at this point, be right on track with how the show has been going.
Hmmm, all I know is that H is going OOT for a bachelor party weekend and I'm about to get caught up on the last two season of this show! Me and H faithfully watched this show through many season but lost interest the past couple of years. I'm sooooo back in it after reading all of this. I can't wait to see what happens.

Stock up on wine.
Last season was OK. This season I'm pushing through.. but I am loving all the old jokes they're tying in. And I like the mother. It's almost a shame they didn't work her in earlier. She was a great pick.
Yes, I've heard this from people that I know that watch the show. Also, it just totally fizzled for both me and H. It just stopped being funny, I guess. Anyway, knowing it's the end and I have nothing better to do, I'll definitely enjoy it.
It's so weird, the pictures I've seen of the mother look like Lily.
My H just said that he read a theory that Ted has Alzheimers and that the story being told is from letters he wrote through the years to help him remember.
Then why would he mention the mother not being at daughter's wedding.

I agree, she has those big eyes like Alyson Hannigan.. but once you see her on the show, I don't think they look much alike. Way different mannerism, I think.
I see. I have not watched any of the episodes she's in.
I'm enjoying all of these theories. I think Ted dies.
I don't think the mother dies. I don't think she would have thrown out that whole "Oh, c'mon, what mother is going to miss her daughter's wedding?" if she knew that, you know.. she was gonna miss her daughter's wedding.
Now I'm leaning towards Ted being the dying/dead one.
He tears up about *someone* missing a daughter's wedding in 2024. The stories are in 2030. I'm guessing they pull a Notebook or someone else is reading letters from Ted and that's how they explain Bob Saget being the narrator.
Actually.. I'm leaning towards a Notebook style ending and Barney is the one reading the letters.. And that's why he (and his stories) seem so awesome. And why he is telling the kids about every sordid detail of Ted's life. Because, you know.. Barney.
Oooohhhh!!!!
Here's a reach...
Maybe Robin and Ted die and then it is Barney telling about the mother? (I don't think this is it - because of the way the story is told) but WHAT IF!?
I was thinking that Ted's mom is the one who dies and misses either his or his sister's wedding(s). I have a bad memory, does he ever refer to her as grandma to the kids? Or show her being older?

I've heard theories that Barney is dead and I believe that may be right. A few episodes ago, when he partied with those random dudes, he mentioned something along the lines of nothing being important if your friends aren't around to see it. That sealed it for me!
Some people suggested the mother & Ted are waiting about news of whether she has cancer which is why they are sad at the Farhamptin Inn. I'm hoping they then get good news and live happily ever after!

Interesting. Good theory. That totally makes sense, especially the Barney part, lol.
