We have not yet but David rarely turns down food (unless it's fruit or vegetables). If he woke up crying for food, I would offer him something like a cheese stick or a yogurt. If he doesn't eat that, I know he's not really hungry. That's my gauge for hunger.
How old is he? I have not but my plan is that if he refuses to eat what I have prepared for the family he can have cereal or yogurt but will not be able to have a treat after (we usually have ice cream or a small sweet).
Only because he passed out before dinner. He didn't wake up all night.
Did you try to give him his dinner? How old is he?
He's 4. He's happily eating his dinner right now. He doesn't have school tmrw-he'll be home all day with H, so he doesn't have to wake up early. I'm just laughing at what he thinks is about to ensue (hanging out with mom & dad! watch a show! play with the dog!) and what is actually about to ensue (uh...bed, I hope?).

lol. I do the opposite. DD loves food and will use it to stall bedtime if she can. If she says she's hungry, I ask if she wants broccoli, peas, or carrots. If she says no, then she isn't really hungry.
Sometimes, but it's her own fault. Lol. I always make dinner and even bedtime snacks, but half of the time she just refuses to eat. She usually (not always) wakes up between 2-4 am for a snack, but instantly goes to sleep after that.
I wish I knew how to get her to eat at dinner, but she just doesn't always cooperate.
I've put DS down quite a few times after eating just a few bites. He said he just wasn't hungry (he eats just about everything). His meals get smaller as the day goes. He eats anything and everything he can get his hands on in the morning, an average lunch, and a small dinner.
Kiddo wasn't eating tonight. I gave her the choice- dinner or bed. She chose bed. And fairly happily went through bed routine. We'll see how the night goes.
I suspect she has to poop. She often doesn't eat well then. And she had a TON of gas tonight. One fart scared me.
I have. Not as punishment, but when he just refuses to eat dinner. Sometimes he goes all night, sometimes he wakes back up (or never actually fell asleep). In those cases I give him a slice of bread and milk then send him right back to bed. That typically works well.
Yeah, this wasn't a punishment, just a "eat dinner or go to bed" choice he made. He went to sleep earlier without a fuss, and he's a kid who doesn't wake up in the middle of the night typically. Oh, and now he's asleep on our bed with a belly full of chicken fajitas. I'll take it!
