I called the cops and asked about the status of the investigation into my incident and the other two related incidents. I was more or less informed that there was no active investigation and the police did not plan to do anything else.
One anonymous email account and two hours later, the story broke on local news outlets. Not twenty minutes later there was a press release on the town website, on the library's FB page, and robo calls/emails from the school superintendent to all parents in all schools.
I am afraid that now the guy will probably back off, so they won't catch him. But I feel like our PD is so incompetent that they wouldn't catch him either way, so may as well make sure that parents are watching their kids and people are prepared, and hopefully he won't do it again.
I feel a little vigilante but I really give no fucks.
Feel free to move to my neighborhood any time! Awesome!
Well fortunately for you we are very much stepping up our home search. heh.
cville thank you. That is very sweet. I actually feel like these boards are really empowering. Think about how many women could go through some kind of experience like this and not want to say anything, feel ashamed?
cuddlyevil no she couldn't find anything. I was grateful to her for trying, though. If the police were actually investigating, they might reach out to other residents for their footage. There are businesses in that area too.
Maybe now that it's on the news they'll catch him, even if he lays low for a bit. Many more eyes on the lookout will help.
Even in my area, where the PD is busy and underfunded they would be working their asses off to find the guy. I can't believe the police are all "there's nothing else we can do". Maybe it is someone they are already aware of? Or they have a suspect but didn't want to say anything because of scaring him off or someone beating the crap out of him?

Sadly our PD has a reputation for not following up on anything. It has to do with the chief being stodgy and old.
We just approved a new 7 million dollar station though! wheee
