I am going for my job interview for the job in the Netherlands to the company headquarters in Sweden. I've never traveled there before. How easy is it to pay with a VISA credit card? I will only be there for a few days and I doubt I will have to buy much but I need to travel by train from the airport to Uppsala and don't really want to take out Krona with my ATM card if I don't have to. Any other advice?
Oh hai!! I live in Sweden. You can pay for everything with a card, that's no problem. HOWEVER, be prepared for them to be surprised that your card doesn't have a chip. You'll have to tell them it's an American credit card and probably have to show them your passport or other id. The train is super fast and easy.
I just spent the weekend in Sweden, and we have zero SEKs with us. Bank card all the way! We even paid for the luggage locker at the train station using card.
I have experienced a few times in Norway where a credit card wouldn't work because they were only set up to use a specific system of debit cards, but I can count those on one hand among all the times I've had overseas visitors. I assume Sweden is similar.

Good luck!
Our night train was two hours late, and then in our car the toilets wouldn't flush and there was no water. We paid a hefty sum so that my sweaty Namorado could have a shower in the morning. I am not pleased. Please tell me this is a one-off and I shouldn't judge SJ too harshly.

I will call my bank tomorrow and take a debit card as well just in case. I have traveled extensively across Europe before and I know my Capital One card does not have hefty fees if I use it as a credit card. If I need cash I'll use my debit card.
