For those of you who don’t know who I am, I head up the message board community for The Knot, The Nest and The Bump and supervise Nest Dani and Bump Kathleen. I know how frustrated you’ve been since we converted the boards to the new format. It did not go smoothly and we’ve been experiencing several bugs since then, including threads missing, slow load times and general usability issues. Launches, conversions and replatforms almost never go 100 percent smoothly, however we experienced several issues that made the transition rougher than we expected.
I know how frustrated you are. Bump Kathleen, Nest Dani and I are frustrated too. Our goal was to convert The Nest boards, and eventually The Bump boards, to a new platform (the same platform as The Knot) so that all of our boards were hosted by the same third-party vendor. We have experienced technical issues with this third-party vendor in the past, mainly issues regarding load time and missing posts, however they provided us with several performance fixes to address missing threads and told us that everything was resolved last week before we converted The Nest boards. We would have NEVER moved forward with the new format if we knew that their solution wouldn’t hold up. Our IT team has put a lot of pressure on our vendor to fix these bugs immediately and I will begin providing regular updates to our moderators on the progress that is made.
I also want you to know that we are listening to your feedback and trying to implement it as quickly as possible. We are going to provide you with a sort feature that has more options so that you can sort by most recent post. We are looking into solutions for our mobile users. We are also going to give you features that will allow you to access your posts and delete when necessary and are looking into ways we can list more posts and threads per page without running into performance issues. Bump Kathleen and Nest Dani are forwarding your feedback to me, and I will work closely with our IT team and our third-party vendor to make sure it gets addressed. Your experience on the boards is our top priority. Please check in with your moderators as they’ll be the first to know what fixes and improvements are in the works. We will not convert The Bump boards to the new format and platform until we’ve resolved these issues and know that you are happy with the experience. Change is never easy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do our best to make this transition easier for you and to make sure you’re happy.
I want to let you know how sorry I am about all of the bugs and issues you’ve experienced within The Nest community over the past 5 days. Our members are so important to us, whether you’ve just joined our community recently or have been a member of The Nest for years. I personally apologize for the frustration that the new format has caused all of you. I want you to know that your feedback is getting noticed and that you will not be left in the dark without updates. Please continue to let me know what I can do to improve the experience for you. You can email me any time at messageboards@theknot.com.

Bahahahahahahahaha.
I doubt this is good enough for the people who sought shelter at the pampers board. For one, I want to see an appology to those posters from BumpKathleen.

And this third party must have given them an awesome deal (free) to have message boards look like that. These ones are way better and this is Internet 1.0.

Apology is worthless. A promise to roll back the boards to their 1998 technology does nothing to bring them into the 21 century. "Look into mobile." Lol. About 5 years behind the curve on that one!

I agree. IT problems with rolling out a new platform =/= the pampers shenanigans

All of these problems were on the roll of the platform on the local boards...this should not have been a surprise. It's again another case of TN/TB not listening to their users in favor of revenue.
I wasn't privy to the Pampers fiasco...what happened?

@ Pampers....
They rolled out the new boards, nothing worked. ML went and invaded the unused (no posts in something like 3 months) pampers board on the bump which was unaffected.
BumpKathleen gets on there to chastise them for "ruining" the "pampers experience" and starts banning and deleting people who posted non-pampers questions. She also told them to do something like just deal with it and accept the changes.
Apparently, the experience only matters on a sponsored board. It was loltastic.
The wiki that was posted in another thread really helped update me. Was really shocked to hear about the Pampers issue. I'm surprised people didnt petition to get Bump Katheleen booted.

I give the whole blaming the "vendor" a big ass eye roll. If you and your IT team hired (outsourced) another company for it's shoddy workmanship, have the fucking balls to stand behind the work you paid for. Don't try to hang THEM out to dry because you're a shitty company.
I love being able to curse here. It is exhilirating.
Yeah, this is a big fat non-apology that I'm not buying for one second. If they actually cared about keeping the boards functional and usable for their customers they'd have already gone back to the old format. Hell, they should have posted this on Friday at the latest rather than let things escalate and boil over on the weekend.

I am 99.99999999999% positive the only reason they finally drafted an apology is because everyone ran to the hills and isn't coming back. I'm sure they think they are super special snowflakes that can do whatever and we'll just suck it up and hang around.

here's the response from ML:
Hi Michelle, Carly and the XO Gang.....
For those of you who don’t know who we are, we are the former message board community of The Nest, supervised by ellie, speckled and some guy from wikipedia who just dropped in. I know how frustrated you’ve been since we left your boards for a new, functioning format over on pandce.proboards.com/index.cgi#general. It didn't go smoothly at first. We ran around "Connect With Pampers" posting penis pics and being chastised by Kathleen. But we jumped ship and have experienced no bugs since then, quick load times and general snarkiness satisfaction. Replatforms almost never go 100 percent smoothly, however this transition to proboards went quickly, efficiently and left no stragglers. It was a triumph of Nestie community and ingenuity.
I know how frustrated you are losing your product/customer base. At first we were frustrated too. Our goal was to post on The Nest boards without being royally fucked by your third-party vendor. We have experienced issues with The Nest messsage board employees and moderators in the past, mainly issues regarding bannings, crappy format, frequent service failures and other fuckery. We would have NEVER moved over to proboards if our concerns had been addressed. Or you had given us all free Simple Human trash cans. The proboards moderator and IT team has put a lot of effort into catering to our fanciful whims and in just 5 days a lot of progress has been made to address our concerns - more than we saw in 5 years over on the Nest / Knot / Bump.
I also want you to know that we are listening to your feedback and trying to parody it as quickly as possible. We are looking into ways we can engage in more ridiculous wars on Twitter, Wikipedia and beyond. A team of dedicated posters are forwarding your feedback and edits to the proboard where we work closely to mock and subvert your efforts. Your experience on the dead boards is our top priority. Please check with proboards regularly to observe our successful fake nesting experience. Change is never easy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do our best to make this transition more difficult for you and to make sure you’re not happy.
I want to let you know how sorry we are about the lack of traffic you’ve experienced within The Nest community over the past 5 days. Our nesting is so important to us, whether we had just joined or have been a vocal troll of The Nest for years. But still, we've moved on. I personally apologize for the frustration that our defection to the proboards has caused all of you. I want you to know that your feedback is getting noticed and that you will not be left in the dark without updates. The pandce.proboards.com/index.cgi#general link will be reposted periodically as stragglers and newbies visit. Please continue to let us know what we can do to improve the complete abandonment experience for you. You can visit us any time at pandce.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ml&action=post. Each one of us is a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Michelle, we think you're crazy to make us write an essay. Does that answer your questions? If so, please address all comments and concerns to support@thebump.com.
1/3 of the way. I hear the ending is rushed. I swear, I will have the series finished in a week. I read the second book in one day. I seriously felt bad for my dogs. I just laid in bed and read.

Holy goodness! How was that an apology? All I saw was, "blah. blah. blah. We are going to do a few things to appease you, but really nothing at all. blah. blah. blah." The response is hilarious.
