The only thing that worked for me was changing my diet. I've been to countless dermatologists and have tried virtually every suggestion this board has put out.
If you just want a straight up BP product, acne.org sells a great one. It's inexpensive and a good strength for daily use. When I'm consistent with it, I can see a huge difference in my skin.
I've always had mild/moderate problem skin and was on accutane about 7 yrs ago. I had amazing skin for about 4 yrs after that. Then it was just bearable occasional breakouts, pregnancy gave me flawless skin. Then breast feeding WRECKED my face!! I also need a new skin care routine and help with removing all these blemishes
I'm curious to try proactiv plus. But I swear I don't want to deal with their CS. And get on some bullshit auto replenish program.
Or I can just refill my duac prescription. Doesn't cover the wrinkle issue but whatever?
My thing is: I have a feeling it's my underlying inflammation or allergies. If I were brave I'd show you a photo. But I'm not brave. I L show the rheumatologist and allergist if they think it's helpful info.

Have you tried the acne.org regimen?
I'd do that before seeing a derm. I'm "lucky" enough that my breakouts are on my back and chest. . I used the acne.org program before having family photos done last year and it cleared my chest up with in a week.
My acne is mostly hormonal, I think, because pregnancy did wonders for my face, and then right around 6 weeks pp it all went to hell again. Anyway, I said this in the thread about discontinued products a couple of weeks ago, but I have tried many, many things over the years, and the Burt's Bees garden tomato soap was seriously the best thing that ever happened to my skin. bugandbibs sent me a bar she still had lying around, and since I started using it again, my skin has started to look better already. Sob. I just ordered the "tomato surprise" facial soap from Herbaria, though, so I'm hoping it will be an adequate replacement since they say right in the description that a lot of people searching for a BB replacement buy theirs. I can report back once it comes.
I also use the Neutogena Naturals scrub, and currently I use Olay Daily Defense sensitive as moisturizer and can tolerate that pretty well (dye- and fragrance-free).
If you think this is underlying inflammation, then yes, you're right. Elimination diet is what I would say. Sorry
Also, Proactiv CS is BULLSHITTERY. I used it in college and obviously because I was in college, I moved once a year or more. After my junior year, when I moved mid-year for an internship, they wouldn't let me change my address because I'd changed it "too many times." I gave up and started using the AcneFree system from Target.
ETA: As a teenager, I had a horrible experience with a dermatologist, so that's why I'm not pushing for that. They gave me all these sulfur-based products and it totally tore me up. And they just kept saying "just keep going, it'll get better." And my face was peeling and tomato red and it never got better. But I realize that other people have good experiences. So that also could be an option.

I went the lazy route and got RX from the derm. Oral spironolactone, topical tretinoin and clindamycin. My skin looks amazing.
My biggest problem was cystic acne around my jawline which the derm said is really common with the Mirena. I also had very small bumpy acne on my forehead that is totally cleared up.

The best combo for me has been cleansing with Purpose (fabulous for make up removal AND kids faces, it doesn't stung their eyes at all), Retin A, and Yaz BCPs.
Have you tried seeing an aesthetician? When my skin was at its worst, it really helped to get regular facials/extractions.
Also, I feel like my skin gets used to the products I use, so I don't use all the same products every day. I have a bunch of different PC products I like and rotate through them. The only two products I use every day are the Skin Balancing Cleanser to remove make up at night and the RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol for my night time moisturizer.

Never!
What other PC products do you use?
I'm on my phone, so I'm just going to try to link the products I use. There are a lot!

I eliminated dairy and really cut back in wheat. I fought acne for 20 years, and finally stopped feeling my face first thing in the morning to see what was new. If I do break out now I use Burt's Bees spot treatment. My son uses it too (age 13....poor kiddo!) and it cuts healing time in half. But my diet is what really made a difference.
The first two Mario Badescu products are excellent for break outs. The other more so to prevent break outs.
I need to investigate this brand more. I tried the drying lotion once upon a time. The smell was pretty bad. Some of the ingredients were kind of concerning too. Do you know anything about the drying lotion? Have you used it?
I did end up with that 10% BP face wash from Clean and Clear. And I called in a refill on my duac prescription. I'll start one product at a time
Yes, I've used the drying lotion. It worked well for me.
