I ran the Chambersburg Half in PA today. I loved it. The hills were tough, but the weather was perfect (mid to high 30's and sun, glorious sun).
Things I liked, and why I will probably sign up next year: 1. Less than $50. $25 if you sign up early. 2. The start and finish are by a school. Endless potties! 3. Same day bib pick up. Thank you, thank you. 4. 5 year age groups, which means I have a chance!
Things I didn't like: Nope, can't complain about a cheap race.
The course was through farms, which I guess is a nice change of pace for city folk, but the norm for me. It was open to traffic, but I felt very safe. They took the no headphones rule seriously and DQ'd one of the master winners (it was a money prize).
I ran a 1:36:45 (not sure on the seconds), which I am thrilled with on this course. I felt like I left it all out there, which I did not feel about MB 3 weeks ago. It was good enough for 5th female, and 1st in my AG. I said I'm consistent b/c my Garmin times for my last 3 halfs were: 7:23 (last fall), 7:23 (3 weeks ago), 7:19 (today!) Hah. This was the hardest course though. What I think is more telling are my last miles: MB ( 7:35, 7:34, 6:29 (.18)) and today (7:08, 6:52, 6:18 (.2)). I wasn't considering this a redemption race, but it feels good!
You're amazing! Love those splits!! Well done. I'm so glad you had a fantastic race, and congrats on the AG win! I cannot wait to see the smack down you put on Boston's course.
Congrats on a great (and speedy) race!! My parents used to live in Chambersburg- you are not kidding about the hills, but glad you enjoyed the race. It is beautiful country.
