omg, today at the bank (of all places) DHs bank card wouldn't work, and the teller blew into the slot. We both looked at each other and made nintendo comments. I think the teller was too young to 'get it'. lol.
This is still necessary, imo. I judge any adult who can't.
I agree it's something most adults should be able to do, but a person could get through life without it. I guess I'm using a slightly stricter definition of "necessary" than you.
I used to think all kids should learn to play games on paper like Tic Tac Toe and Hangman and I think those days are gone now.
They don't even pass notes in class or the halls anymore, do they? I wasted a lot of time writing notes to friends and folding them into intricate shapes.

I got 30 minutes of tv a day as a kid. I would spend hours with the tv guide each Sunday picking my shows for the week. Apparently that was also my brother's main motivation for learning to read since he figured out that I didn't tell him about any shows I thought were lame.
