So I know swollen feet are par for the course with pregnancy, but this is weird. I was cleaning for about 6 hours today, wearing supportive running shoes, and when I finished I took a hot shower. The combination made my feet swollen, as I expected, but I also had a bulge on each foot. They were both on the inside, right between the leg and heel, so that if I put my feet together, the two bulges would touch. They were about an inch in diameter and raised almost half an inch out of my feet. They were soft, and I could press on them with some pain. It's been about an hour and a half and the bulges have gone down, but they're still visible. I also have one on my right knee.
Any ideas of what this could be? Normal? It's just throwing me off that those three places are so much more swollen than the rest of me. I Googled, and nothing helpful came up, but I could have just picked the wrong phrases.
I agree with bricco seems not normal but also could be nothing. Do the swollen areas depress when you push on them? Could you have tweaked your ankles or twisted them or something while cleaning? Sorry, not particularly helpful.
I don't actually know if we have an after-hours doctor to call. I've only ever heard of that on the boards. Maybe it's an American thing?
The bulges to depress when I press on them, but it hurts. I don't think it's an ankle issue because they're placed closer to where my heel meets the arch of my foot, rather than back by the ankle. It's such a random place!
I think I'll see how they look in the morning. At this point the swelling has gone down a lot, but it's still visible.
Maybe you have a touch of plantar fascitis? I've always had slight aches in one of my heels after wearing unsupportive flats or going barefoot, but with pregnancy, it's gotten much more painful (and I sometimes get a lump in my heel). Putting my feet up at the end of the day helps, as does rolling my foot back and forth on a frozen water bottle. Hope some rest made your swelling subside.
Thanks guys! Today the bulges are pretty much entirely gone, and don't hurt anymore. I'll have to take it easier, and I might mention it to my doctor next time I go. It doesn't seem to match with symptoms of plantar fascitis or varicose veins, but it's hard to be sure. The joys of pregnancy!
