I'm very excited. I'm having underarms, bikini, and legs done. She suggested I shave that morning and not put on lotion or deodorant. Anyone else have any suggestions? Take some ibuprofen or similar? I guess this is the time to be glad I am super pale all year long, otherwise she would have suggested I wait until next winter.
Some people recommend ibuprofen or EMLA cream (topical anesthetic), but I don't find it necessary. The sensation is not painful, just occasionally tingly. For me, it was really sporadic (like I could maybe feel one out of every 10-15 pulses like a brief and mild sting). Mostly I find the treatments relaxing.
Lower legs/shins can be more sensitive because of the bone in that area. They will likely increase the strength of the laser as you progress in your treatments, so see how you tolerate the first one and take it from there.
I wouldn't worry about ibuprofen. I've had my lower legs and upper lip done and it really isn't that bad. It hurts during and for me about 30 minutes after but totally bearable (and I'm a wuss). Waxing hurts worse IMO.
