I saw the preview this weekend. Looks pretty cute. But yeah at the same time I find it annoying that they can't come up with new movies and just keep redoing stuff over and over again.
I feel like they remake this movie every 10 years or so.
Maybe they'll get the ending right instead of that strange ending from the version with Carol Burnett.
What ending was it supposed to have? How does the play end?
There is no chase; they all end up at Warbucks' mansion (all the orphans, FDR, etc) at Christmas time, and Warbucks was going to adopt Annie until the Mudge's came along. But then they find out that the Mudge's were fakes and were arrested in time for Christmas and for Warbuck's to adopt Annie. And they sing, "A New Deal" which is one of my favorite Annie songs.
Also the musical doesn't have Dumb Dog or Let's Go to the Movies. It has Hooverville (another one of my favorites) and N.Y.C.
Hayley Mills sucked as an actress, too, but that didn't diminish my childhood love of the original Parent Trap. Screw their Razzie - the 1982 version is perfection. And I LOVE Dumb Dog.
Oh sorry, I wasn't negating the love people have for Annie, in fact, I loved Annie as a kid, I just thought it was interesting trivia.
I love Dumb Dog too...I sing it to my dog all the time.
This was my favorite movie from my childhood as well. When I was little I used to tell my friends that before I was adopted, I lived in an orphanage just like the one in Annie. It was a far more glamorous story than "my parents adopted me at birth through Catholic Charities".
Is Cameron Diaz singing in it?? Have they SEEN My Best Friend's Wedding?!
Ha! I know, right? But maybe having a terrible voice works to the character's advantage? It's the only justification I can think of. I'm encouraged that people think it at least looks like a cute trailer, but STILL! There's no need for yet another remake.
