I am working on creating the menu for my son's baptism. I am thinking of making pulled pork for sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and a green salad, along with snacks like cheese and crackers.
Here's my dilemma. I would like to make the macaroni and cheese the day before as the service is at 11 in the morning. I figure we will have to leave the house About 45 minutes prior to the service, the service will be about one hour and it will take us about half an hour to get back to the house. So we will get home a little after noon.
If I pull the macaroni and cheese out of the refrigerator preheat the oven and start cooking it then because it will be very cold it will take at least an hour to heat up. Could I pull it out of the refrigerator on my way out the door and have it warm up to room temperature while we are at the church? That would cut it's cooking time in half. Or is that asking for trouble?

I'm a big food safety nut and wouldn't leave it out. I would probably use the slow cooker if you don't have time to reheat after the service. If you do decide to leave it out, make sure it gets up to temp (165) before serving.
I would do crockpot Mac and cheese. You can prep the night before, put it on when you get up so you can stir a few times and it'll be perfect when you get back.

I think you have two options, first, leave it out , but leave it wrapped up. Second option, just out it in the oven as the oven is preheating, that way it all comes up to temp. Slowly.
