I have a guy coming to either repair or replace my windshield. It's covered under our insurance (not due to an accident). Do I need to tip him? If so, thank goodness for kids piggy banks because that's all I've got lol.

No. Why does everyone think every single person who does anything needs to be tipped?!?!?! I mean, no offense OP but I feel like these are regular posts on the boards these days.

Well, yes , that's why I'm paranoid! Everyone else posts about tipping people I wouldn't even think to so I second guess myself all the time.

im a mechanic, and sometimes ill have to make a house call, or something like that, and while my employer makes the $$ and pays me my labor rate, i gotta tell ya it feels damn good to get a tip every now and again.
i finished a car at work, took 3 months, big project, and when the customer came in to pick it up, he wrote the check, then handed the boss another check for me, and said to tell me thanks for the good hard work..... never has it felt as good to get 50 bucks. i was so stoked.
when i have to call a tow truck out for something, you bet your ass i give em a 10 or 20. most dont see it coming, but they sure are greatful.
i personally would tip em, and say thank you. being in the service industry is a rewardless industry to work in.

I have AAA so it's free to have my car towed, so I always tip in that circumstance (as it happens, twice in the last six months -- one was on a Sunday, and one was at night.) Plus I had a flat a couple of weeks ago and tipped for that, too; and I tipped again when another AAA guy came to put the repaired tire back on the car. But somehow replacing the windshield doesn't seem like a task requiring a tip. I don't know why.
