The last few days of springlike weather have got me "shopping" for fall marathons. I'm in the market for something smaller and more laid back this year, and within driving distance of Chicago. Also, end of September/first week in October is ideal, because we're planning a big trip for mid-October and I need to be able to walk by then
Looks like quad cities may fit the bill, just wondering if anyone has run it before?

I live an hour from the QC but the timing has never worked out for me to run it. A lot of people from my running group do it every year and they like how well organized it is. It's a flat, fast course. Easy to find your way around town for getting there, etc. The weather should be cooled off by then but there's a few stretches of really hot weather in September.
Have you looked at Fox Cities in Appleton? That might fit your timeline too.
I ran the half back in 2007ish (I used to live in the area prior to moving down south). It was my first half, and I really enjoyed it. Like most QC races, it is well organized and fun. Not a ton of crowd support (if that's your thing), but if that doesn't bother you, then I totally recommend it.
