I have super tight calves that cause all sorts of issues in my ankles and feet. I stretch, foam roll, and go to PT (mainly for the ankle issues - peroneal tendinitis). My PT mentioned I may want to consider getting a massage stick to work on my calves after he spent a good chunk of our session massaging them.
I got one today after I was super stiff from a 4 mile run. I feel so loosey goosey! I used it all over my legs - quads, hamstrings, and obviously my calves. This thing is amazing. If I weren't already married, I would consider proposing to it.

Which one do you have? I have problems with really tight calves also.
I got The Stick brand - the travel size. My PT says most brands are good

I got the Travel Stick a few months ago too primarily because it's more suitcase-friendly than a big foam roller. I like it, but I think I like the foam roller at CF more. I hadn't realized they'd feel so different, but now I just need a roller too...and a personal masseuse
I feel like the stick is far less work than the foam roller, and I don't have to get out of bed to use it. I also think it is amusing that I am too lazy to foam roll.
