1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Nike Womens Half DC, April 27, 15,000.
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? I ran for a consecutive minute, twice! Followed by 6x30 seconds. I still have some cramps and some iffy intestinal issues.
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? None registered, but maybe a 5k or something.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Tunes and the voices in my head. My cat wasn't willing to go with me
5. Is it snowing again? Really? Nope. Supposed to rain.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Sports bra.
1. Florida Beach Halfathon, 3/23. Projected 1,700-2,000 total runners (half and a 5k).
2. Best moment was finishing my long run Sunday. Worst moment was last night's run, only 3 miles and I hit the times I wanted to but my legs felt heavy.
3. No more races planned because it's a week from this Sunday(!) but during training I completed one each 5,8,10 & 15k
4. My sister sometimes, run club weekly, two coworkers, but usually alone
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Indy Women's Half Marathon on June 7. I have no idea how many are running it! My best guess is around 2,500.
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Worst moment was very slightly tweaking my knee during my long run on Saturday. This is the fourth time I've very slightly tweaked one of my knees (it isn't always the same one) during training. It hurts for just a few seconds and then is fine. I'm worried about long-term problems though. Best moment? That's easy, it was working out to "Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies" DVD I got from the library! Awww yeah!
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? I'm doing a "Glow in the Dark" 5K in April and another 5K at the end of May. Then I'm also booked for another local half marathon in late September.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? I run by myself. We've lived here 6 years now and I still haven't made any H&F friends. I love listening to audio books when I run.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? Ugh, yes -- it's a mess here in northwest Ohio!
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? I hope I don't forget to turn on my Garmin!

1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Shamrock Va. Beach Half Marathon; This Sunday; I dunno, a million?
2. Best moment of training this week? Getting my run in last night. Worst moment? Saturday - Having to cut my 8 mile run 7 miles short (so I only ran a mile) because I realized I wasn't feeling so good. Spent the rest of the weekend down with a stomach bug.
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? I ran a 5K on 2/22. I will run a 10-miler the Sunday after this one. I'm also doing the 8K the day before my half, but I'm taking it very easy. I may just walk the whole thing.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Big group on Saturday. Smaller group on Sunday and Tuesday. Usually alone on Thursday
5. Is it snowing again? Really? No! Winter is over!
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Shorts! That would be super-embarrassing.

OMG How did it get to be Wednesday already? That cat made my LOL. That's about how I feel today. Could not get out of bed this morning!
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Frederick Running Festival, May 4
This is a great question - I looked up last year's results to see. Last year had 3594 participants including 1955 women. Also interesting to see where my estimated finish time fits in. A 2:40 finish would put me around 3200th place. But hey, that's in front of 400 people, hah!
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Running outside! So glad to a) be back from smoggy China and b) have nice weather! Worst - running outside! It was like my body forgot what it was like to run outside; my long run Saturday was a little rocky. Oh! Another best - I logged my fastest mile on my Garmin on Monday. I guess those long runs are paying dividends in shaving seconds off of my shorter mid-week runs. Woot!
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Yes! Ran my first 10k in February, and have a few more teed up: 3/15 - 4-miler 4/6 - 10k (slow run with beer at the end) 4/13 - 10mi 5/4 - 13.1 mi (Race Day!)
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Usually podcasts or an audiobook to help pass the time. I ran the 10k with a friend and had a ton of fun, though.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? I don't usually run on Thursdays, so, whatever. Should be super nice by my 4-mile race on Saturday!
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day Cheerios, banana, and almond butter for breakfast. Can't rely on Best Western's continental to be what I need.

1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Yuengling Shamrock 8K (Saturday) and 1/2, 3/15/14 (Sunday!!!) 10K each for the 8K & 1/2 and another 4K for the Full
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Getting out and running in 70* weather! Worst - pain in my shins
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Well training ends this weekend! Next up is the Cherry Blossom 10mi
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? I have been training with another friend who is doing the same race. I run the shorter runs with my music
5. Is it snowing again? Really? Mother Nature needs to get on her bi-polar medication, STAT. The hourly forecast shows a 20* drop within one hour this evening...teens and some kind of nasty precipitation overnight
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? My inhaler...it will be a long 13 miles if I cannot breath! I can live without almost everything else (even if I don't want to)
I'm doing the Dolphin Challenge too! What corrals are you in? I plan on taking it WAY easy on the 8K also!
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Shamrock'n Half, this Sunday! Last year, there were 5300+ racers. Not totally sure if that's half + 5K.
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? This is my second half, and the taper is killing me! I want to go run, run run, and am having a hard time restraining myself. I've been reading about reducing volume but not intensity, so I've done 3, 2, will do 2 today, and 1-2 on Friday, but at a brisk pace.
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Nope, but I'm signed up for several more races later this year, including a 10-miler in late April and a destination race (half) in late July. I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm for racing, because I'm hoping to be pregnant soon, and while I want to keep running, I don't want to "waste" money on race fees.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Mostly by myself, but I recently joined two Meetup groups, and got to do 3 miles with a nice lady last weekend. She's doing the same race, but at a slower pace, and needed to take a break, so we went our separate ways.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? Not here! We're just lucky to have gotten some rain recently.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Fuel! It's dumb, because it's probably not even needed, but I've convinced myself that I NEED gu/gel/whatever, and I'm paranoid about how I'm going to carry it. I just got a hydration belt, and am not sure if it's a good idea to use it without having used it for a long run before.

1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? next up: 6/14/14 Patriot Half IM. It's a small field, limited to 825 triathletes. It sold out months ago.
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? It was the same moment. Last night at tri club strength workout, we were doing squats with a dumbbell neutral press for 90 secs, with dumbbells that our trainer picked for each of us. (I had 15s.) After the 90 secs, he told us to go swap weights if we needed to, this was the "last chance." I went to go for 12s, because OOFT it was hard. He told me no, stick with the 15s because I was fine. I didn't necessarily agree (especially by the time we got to the 3rd 90 sec interval) but the vote of confidence was great - and I worked harder than I probably otherwise would have.
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? I'm not sure. I have a coach for this 70.3 (pre-built plan) and I don't think she's a big fan of racing during training. We'll see. I might do a May HM as a long run.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Usually just me and tunes.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? We have white shit on the ground and are expecting more white shit tonight.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? So many items. Tris = items galore. I'll go w/ helmet, though, because you can't race w/o it!
You're so sweet, thank you! I think I should just change my display name back; I'm actually Mushe, but am known affectionately as Mush. No idea why I didn't just choose that as my name when I came to GBCN, except that it matches my Nest/Knot name.

I'm in 8 for the half and 9 for the 8K. What about you? I haven't decided exactly what I'm doing for the 8K yet - maybe walking, maybe running the middle three miles. For some reason, I keep thinking the 8K is in the afternoon and I picture myself leisurely walking in the sun. Then I remember it's in the morning. Anyway, I'm so excited! 3 medals and 4 beers!! (star) (star) (star)
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Pittsburgh half, 5/4, 30,000 last year between the half and full! My largest race to date, by far.
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Finishing 7 miles, strong. Worst moment was the first 2 though, legs felt ROUGH.
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Racing the Dublin Double on Sunday, 10k then a 5k!I also have the Glass City Marathon relay the week before my half!
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Loud tunes to drown out the voices in my head!
5. Is it snowing again? Really? YEP. Bastard old man winter.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Sunglasses!!!! Squinting for 13 miles would kill me.
fat, slow, and undertrained. will be training through the half this weekend in the hopes of making a strong effort at CB10. will be happy with anything under 2 hours.
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Charity Chase Half, 6/1, about 600 runners
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Wearing shorts (hot) during my longer run on Saturday! so warm!
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Not yet - that can be changed though!
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? long runs with a friend or alone(with tunes) &these guys during the week:

2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Best - hmmm, I managed to get 7 in yesterday Worst - I CAN'T WAKE UP!!!
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Yes, I love racing. I ran a 10 miler 2 weeks ago and told Mr.GT I reserve the right to register for another one I also plan on doing at least two other 5ks pre race and probably two more in May.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Tunes and the voices in my head. Mr. GT and I will go to the trail together, but he'll run 10 while I run 12 or he'll do 800's while I do 400's.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? Nope, but it is supposed to rain.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? I have to have time to warm up and use the restroom.

4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Only my iPod and Garmin. I actually don't like running with a running buddy.

1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? Christie Clinic University of Illinois HM. April 26. About 8000 for the half and 3000 for the full (plus another 10,000 combined with the 5k, 10k, and relay).
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Best: Fastest mile, outside, on hills yesterday! Worst: Couldn't finish my 8 miler on Sunday. Had THE BEST 8 mile run the weekend before, but being sick, in a time crunch and on a treadmill, my body wasn't having it
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? This Saturday, St. Patrick's 5 Mile - super excited and hoping for under an hour- new PR. And doing a 5k the night before- it's called the I-Challenge. Not really "racing" the 5k, but it's a blast to run past the college bars at night.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? The West Wing on the iPad since 75% of my runs have been on the treadmill. If under 5 miles, music. If over 5, podcasts- usually NPR and a few other current event shows.
5. Is it snowing again? Really?
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Vaseline between my butt cheeks. I get the body glide, everywhere, but I always seem to forget to finish it off with the good stuff.
fat, slow, and undertrained. will be training through the half this weekend in the hopes of making a strong effort at CB10. will be happy with anything under 2 hours.
half PR may have to wait until fall. womp womp.
Wow, I could have written this.
1. Which race, what day, and how many runners total are racing it? DC RNR half, 3/15
2. Best moment of training this week? Worst moment? Best = getting to run in shorts and a tank outside Worst = fighting off another cold a few days ago
3. Do you have any other races planned during your training? Like ebeth, I'm training through this in prep for Cherry Blossom 10-miler.
4. Who do you run with? Partner, friend, group, dog, tunes, or the voices in your head? Sometimes my 2 dogs, sometimes my 2 kids, sometimes all 4 beasts, sometimes solo.
5. Is it snowing again? Really? It's supposedly dropping 40+ degrees tonight, brrrr.
6. One item you hope you don't forget on race day? Chapstick

I'm in 7 for the half, but realistically, I should be in 8. I was ambitious when I signed up and my lackluster training season has me wondering if I can even match my time from last year...I'm thinking a PR is out the window. I will probably try to find the 2:30 pacer and hang with them unless I'm feeling amazingly good that day.
I'm in 6 for the 8K, but again, probably should have been further back. I'm just going to enjoy the scenery.
I will look something like this for the half (different shirt this year, but same headband, socks & tutu):

If you see me, feel free to say HI
My goal is 2:25-2:30 so I will keep an eye out. I think I am wearing a neon yellow shirt from my running group, black shorts, shamrock pro compression socks and bright orange mizunos. I hope to see you! Good luck!
Hi all! I hate that I can't get on this board at work. My runs have been really slow lately. Up until today. Today I was running 9:30 minute miles (fast for me.) I did my last long run the weekend before last. I'm worried I may have done too long of a taper. Only time will tell.
