Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I ended up doing this because it was mindless, but not TOO mindless. I was on a metric treadmill, so I did 1500 w/u + 5 x 800 hard/800 easy + 500 c/d (because it was after 800 easy anyway) for a total of 10K.

That's why I like 800/half mile repeats...like you said, it's mindless but not too mindless Glad it worked out for you!
I also do this one a lot, but usually do it by lap instead of by minute.
As in you do the faster portions as one lap, not one minute? Do you do the slower (3.7mph) parts as 1 lap? 3 mins still?
Yes, when I do it, I like to do it by lap (0.25 mile) so I get a little longer speed in. So I would do fast lap, then walk for 3 minutes, run a fast lap, walk 3 minutes, etc. while following the workout plan.
Another treadmill workout I do is (after warming up): run a lap at 7.5 mph, run a lap at 8mph, run a lap at 8.5 mph, then walk a lap. Then run a lap at 8mph, run a lap at 8.5 mph, run a lap at 9 mph, then walk a lap. I usually do that for 4 miles total.
