Some people are for real dumb! I just don't think the intention is to try to minimize it. I really think it's like "this is blowing my mind. I never knew this was possible. I am stupid, but probably not an evil person. Educate me so I can be informed and advocate for protection for those in need."
I'm really not reading asshole here.
ETA: and you know my FAVORITE thing to do is call people assholes.
I've slept through sex before. I probably am not the only one.
Drunk? Mega-tired? Just regular deep sleep?
Well, like I said elsewhere, I have disordered sleep. It happened once and he thought I was awake because I was doing things like I would if I was awake. When I took klonopin, it happened a few times because I fell asleep soon after we started and he didn't realize.

My opinion is that the OP is a juvenile asshole that seems to find rape funny, and speckled is not an asshole and does not find rape funny but wants to believe sleep rape is not possible even though she knows it is in actuality.

ha ha! saved from frat boys! because all men are like this! thank god for insomnia! ha ha ha!
i actually think it's really hot to wake up to someone having sex with me (assuming it's my H or zac efron or scott disick). but alas, none of them have ever tried this.
It's one of DH's fantasies too. Think that answers any deep-seated "why" questions?

I think you're being inordinately generous, but even so, what got me was the follow-up: "yeah, still not seeing how this is possible."
I honestly hate that you think I am a bad person. You are reading something into what I said that I didn't mean. I should just stop trying to explain but it is legit bothering me that people think I'm an asshole.
Let me explain how I saw this unfold on my end
iamgrace: I'm confused as to why you are confused me: I'm surprised by this, because I have questions. basically I don't understand the logistics of how this works TR: So you don't understand how someone can sleep so deeply that they dont' wake up. Are you just some dumb fuck me: Well, that is what I'm saying but now I don't know what to do because I'm getting yelled at. toledo and Mwos: You are the shittiest person to ever walk GBCN me: OMG, what is happening?

Thank you. This is definitely where I am coming from.

I understand you speckled. I am also unsure about specifics and think it's good to know so people can fully understand what is happening to work toward preventing it from happening to someone else. We are dumb. But the OP is dumber. And I don't think any of us is evil.
I think the problem is that historically there have probably been a lot of people who denied the possibility of sleep rape by saying "well that couldn't happen to me so it's bullshit."
But I get that is not what you are saying. People are on the defense because of actual deniers, not just people who are uniformed.

She is using hyperbole and attempted humor to make light of her feelings that you don't like her now because you used a gif from Big and that makes her sad because she respects you because you are awesome. She wants you to think it's funny and like her again.
I feel like I really understand everyone today and I should go be a translator at the UN. I will just use feelings.
You said you didn't know how anyone could sleep through it when you're a deep sleeper and you *think* you'd wake up! So, sure. If you're a deep sleeper, and you might/probably/hopefully would wake up, then it's beyond comprehension how someone else might not wake up.
ha ha! saved from frat boys! because all men are like this! thank god for insomnia! ha ha ha!
Exactly. The questions aren't what pissed me off about the OP, some people don't understand how it happens..I guess. It was her attempt to be funny with "I'm glad I was never raped in my sleep, I'm a light sleeper!" that makes her come across as a fucking idiot.

I don't think that's what she actually said though. She said she had a hard time comprehending it and she likes to think she'd wake up (assuming because not waking up is horrifying). She never said it was beyond comprehension that someone else might not. The original poster is the asshole here.
Agreed that the OP is the asshole. But I said earlier that Speckled's sentence struck me the wrong way. To me, on a message board with no tone, it read "I'm a deep sleeper and I would wake up. Why couldn't you?"
I also said earlier that if I was interpreting the wrong tone that I was sorry. My last post was just clarifying because I didn't call Speckled any names
Backing away from the inter-nestie-stuff, back to the topic-ish... Thees also the passivity that comes w/ being a victim that can be a part of this.
I'm going to try to say this in a non-stupid way, but bear with me a bit. Because rape isn't usually "rape rape" (I hate that term), it's not strangers and dark alleys, it's boyfriends and exes and husbands and guys you know in 'innocent' situations, the "zomgs, freeze" response is common.
I haven't been sleep raped, but I did wake up to an 'ex' of sorts (not ex-ass-ferret, kuus, FTR) groping me. I don't think of myself as a 'lie there and take it' sort of person...but I did. It took me several minutes to finish waking up. Then there was some shock and then several more minutes to get my bearings enough that I was able to react (because making sure that it is someone you know, you are where you think you are, you aren't going to die--that seemed like my brain's first priority. And then I felt like I couldn't move for a few)...by that time, he decided I was waking up and moved on (to go jerk off).
If I had woken up mid-fuck, I can't say that might not have done the same.
I eventually told him that I knew about it. eventually.

i've woken up to someone having sex with me. not H or a boyfriend. just some dude i was friends with (at the time). the fact that he was getting off while i just laid there completely oblivious to what was happening is disgusting. and i've had ppl tell me that it wasn't rape because i didn't say "no" when i woke up and realized what was happening. those people can ESAD.
