I have my half on 3/29, and I'm not quite sure what to do for my last 2 long runs. I'm following the Hal Higdon Novice 2, which would normally have me doing 11 this weekend and 12 next weekend (7 days before the race), but because my schedule has been crazy lately, I did 12 last Sunday (was supposed to be 11, but improvised a little too much while I was out there). I have a 4 mile race on Saturday. Should I do 12 or 13 on Sunday and 8 or 10 next weekend (Sundays are my typical long run days) or some other combination?
I'd probably try to do 13-14 this weekend since you've already done 12, but depending on how tired you are from the race. And then 8-10 next weekend. So basically, what you said.
I would probably do 13 on Sunday and 10 the week before the race. I like to go to 13 miles at least once in my training, I think the week before the race it is less important that you go up to 10 but if I felt up to it, I would and then I would feel like I did all I could do to be ready.

OK. So I was thinking through this the right way. This whole training cycle has been a mess (thank you, Polar Vortex), so I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing this time around, and therefore, completely unprepared for this race.
If this is your A race I'd take it a little easier, 13 miles + a race + 8-10 the week before the race would be a bit much for me. I'd probably do 10 + race this week and 8 next week.

I'm thinking along these lines as well. See how you feel & may do 13 miles 2 weeks out, but stick w/ 8 the week before.

Thanks, ladies. The way things are going with DH's reffing schedule, I may only have enough time to do 8-10 miles the next two weekends. I hate being slow. And spring soccer.
