If I were doing it, and were in shape, I would kick this WOD's ass - by my standards, lol…I think if I had been working out consistently I think I could have gotten to round 3 - maybe.
Can someone explain to me how these work? I'm missing something! Wasn't there just 14.2? Educate me!
The Crossfit Games happen once a year. They begin with the Open - anyone can do the workouts (as long as they pay, lol). There are 5 workouts, one each week - we are in week 3 - so 14 (2014), work out 3.
Based on the results for the Open, individuals and teams can qualify for their Regionals.

That's pretty much it. So tonight they announced the 3rd workout (online, live) and now people have 4 days to complete it at their box (or in their basement if they want) and register their scores.

Any predictions on how far you are gonna get girls?? I'm thinking third maybe fourth round of DLs. My 1rm is 215 and that's four months old. We've been doing this four week lifting program for four months now and it's helped me increase my weights a lot.

I'm excited! Box jumps are my nemesis (and I have the scar to prove it), but I will just take them slow and keep focused. Deadlifts I can do the weight up to and including the 4th round, so I'll run out of time before I run out of strength/skills, which is more fun than 14.2. I'm doing it tomorrow because I'm going to be gone all weekend with my family who are here visiting - wish me luck!
My one rep max for deadlifts right before I got pregnant was 200lbs but it was lower than it should be because I have struggled with low back issues - my one rep max for back squat was 200lbs too so my DL should be higher.
With that many reps each round I don't think I get past round 3, but that would be good for me.
I'm super excited for this one! The last two sucked for me as I didn't have double unders and I can't overhead squat more than 35#. My 1rm deadlift is 225, so I'm hoping to at least make it to the fourth round. My DH did it last night and he said it's better to do step-ups than box jumps and in the later rounds, just drop the bar and do singles instead of holding it all the way down.

Yeah, after 135, this is my plan.
I feel like there's a lot more strategy with this workout than previous workouts.

I just did it. I am pretty sure I no longer have a back, just a painful space between my ribs and my butt. I got 71, which is 16 DLs in the 3rd round. I was doing well on time and just could not get through the 20 x 155 lb DL quickly - I had to stop between each one because my back was spasming, so I'd breath, consciously relax and then do another. I have back problems, so this isn't surprising, and I'm happy with my performance.
I am considering re-doing it on Monday though and taking something for pain beforehand to see if I can eke out a few more reps. I also want to try to do the first 2 rounds of DLs faster - I wasn't going slowly, but I wasn't racing through them either, and I think for me a better strategy will be to go fast since due to pain I'm going to have to break between each 155 lb DL anyway. I did mostly box jumps but switched to some step ups when I felt tired or like my legs were a little unstable, and I think for me that was the fastest/best combo vs. doing all box jumps or all step ups.
Can you do step ups? I haven't watched the standards video yet, but when I took the judges course online they specifically said box jumps must be a two foot take off and no step ups. I always find step ups faster because I don't get as winded and don't need to break as much.

Last year, step ups were allowed. I am fairly certain they are allowed again this year.

wambam we'll see how I feel on Monday I'll be spending all weekend lazing around (and going in the hot tub at the hotel tonight, which sounds amazing), so if I feel good then I think that I could do some strategizing to do better. If I just don't feel like it, then I will be content with my 71 reps.
rubiakt it says you can step up or down as long as you have both feet on the ground and both on the box in control and with the correct body position, so go for it!
omg, emile, I can't believe you want to do it again!!!
DH just texted and said he got 99 - so he got to the 4th round, getting 9 DL in at 285…crazy…I never would have made it to round 4!
Haha, I think I must have amnesia because consciously I know that I ended it on the floor in serious pain from my back, but I'm also like "eh, wasn't that bad, I can totally do better!" and as of now planning on doing it again tomorrow. I am however aware that it's possible that as soon as I start my muscles are going to go "nope, not doing this." wambam and @mandiespharm are bringing out the competitor in me though, I want to get closer to your guys' scores!
(Also, this matters not at all, but it's Emily...you are not the first to read my username as emile, it seems to play tricks on people's brains)
I got 103 this morning. Man that 185# was heavy! My 1rm dead lift is 235# so I thought I could get through the 185# round a bit quicker, but that was definitely where I hit my wall. I got to the round at 4:19 and it took me the remaining 3:40 to do 8 reps
I don't think it affected how I did in 14.3 much, but I did a full murph yesterday and those 300 squats smoked my quads and upper back.

omg, that is so so weird, it totally does play tricks…sorry!!!

I wound up with 105 on Saturday. I'm stoked as I beat DH by 1! I don't see how I could do better, so I'm good with that score! I hit the 185# at 5:35, so 2.5 minutes to get 15 of the 185.
