Has anyone flown Norwegian Airlines (long-haul specifically)?
Am looking to fly to London in July and it would be way cheaper on Norwegian -- but I've heard little about them and don't know whether I should be concerned!
I haven't flown them long-haul yet, but I'm interested to try it. I think MM has covered the start-up logistical hiccups pretty well, so I'll just focus on what I know of the travel experience.
It is an LCC, so you should not plan to get anything for free. Check the luggage info, because I don't know if they waive the checked bag fee for international flights, but I wouldn't expect them to. Food will be for-purchase, so if you don't want to bring some food with you, I'd look at what's available for pre-order. I'm pretty sure they charge for blankets and use of the entertainment system, so consider stocking up an iPad with your own films and packing a travel blanket.
Basically, if you're the type to just show up, get on the plane, and go, you might want to look at their upgraded option, which includes more of the little things you'd expect on an int'l flight. However, if you don't like to use the communal airline blanket, you'd rather pick up something in the airport than eat plane food, etc. it could be a good option. Just know what you're getting into!
