I'm a lifetime NYer, but have lived in the 'burbs for most of my life and never ran a race in NYC before. Running Central Park and through NYC was just amazing. Coming out of the park, where there was a decent amount of spectators, onto 7th avenue where there seemed to be SO many, was such a great feeling. So many people cheering. Such great spirit among the runners.
It was definitely cold and windy - I never ditched my "throw away" sweatshirt - and I have decided I need to invest in some warmer gloves/mittens for running - my fingers hurt so badly from the cold! (I'm already making a Christmas wish list for DH for this coming year . . . warmer gloves, a warmer vest, etc.)
Would do it again (and more NYC races) in a heartbeat.
Still would definitely NOT do the full, ha.
Thanks for patches31709 for checking up on me! (How do I tag her?)
Nice job! I was thinking of all of you guys running it this morning while I was sitting around waiting for it to warm up so I could go on my run!
Are you in NY?
Yes, Dutchess County. I ran the NYC Half in 2012 and 2013, but didn't get picked in the lottery this year, otherwise I would have been out there with you. I'm doing the Women's Half in Central Park in a few weeks instead.
This sounds like an awesome race. I would love to run in NYC someday. Congrats to you! Sorry you froze. (Hope you get those new gloves.) It was about 2 degrees this morning in my area, and I was thinking I was glad to not be running in it!

Awesome! I'm in Westchester. I almost signed up for the Women's Half. My friend says it's a fun race. Keep me posted if you do any local (to us) races. I'm doing the Scarsdale 15k/4m in 2 1/2 weeks. It was a cheap race, so I figured, why not?

Oh I'll have to look into that. That might be a good race to gauge how my half is going to go. After the half, I'm thinking of working on getting faster at 5/10ks this summer, so if you hear of any flat races (so hard to come by) definitely let me know!

I will! I'm doing the Riverdale 10k in May but that race is definitely NOT flat - it's one hill after another. I pretty much spend the entire race cursing, lol.
