I had it done when I was meeting with a sports nuritionist. It was discounted because we were already meeting so I decided to just tack it on. My result was 1,434 calories/day. This was 13% above the average for my height and weight (5'3", 112 lb). But then after meeting with her, I wasn't calorie counting anyway so it didn't really matter. I guess it's nice to know. I don't think I am good for calorie counting though. I am a numbers person so I get obessed with it. I try just to eat well currently. It's nice to know the number as a reference point.

jamalynn - did you think it was beneficial to meet with a sports nutritionist? I met with one nutritionist but all it seemed like was a sales pitch for vitamins.
No sales pitch with this lady. It was good. I was training for my first marathon and I eat veg, mostly vegan so I wanted to do what all I needed to do. She was a sports nutritionist but she was not veg. So she pushed protein on me more than I wanted. We discussed eating every 2.5 hours, smaller meals, carb + protein, 3 fats a day. That kind of stuff. I was hoping to lose a few pounds too but I saw her right before the holidays. I did like that she took my body fat percentage and I went from 15.5% to 13.5% during the holidays, even though the scale didn't move. I was incorporating a lot more protein into my diet, think silken tofu dips with Mary's Gone Crackers, smoothies in the morning with protein powder, and I even starting eating egg whites. I also tried to limit my processed foods to just once a day (that didn't always happen, but I tried). I gave me some structure without being too strict.
I do notice that when I eat every 2.5 hours I am not as hungry and it's easier for me to make healthy choices.
