The one who coached and mentored me during ironman. I told her I'm still having neck and shoulder issues and that I feel like a lazy blob.
I love her so much. She said use this year to get better. Some years you do something big, other years you do lots of smaller races other years you don't do much. And it's ok to have one of those "not much" years. I have to get better.
There is no point to this post. It's just that she made me feel so much better about my injury/ies. And that maybe 2015 will be another big year.
I think she has a great perspective. Reading your post helped me reframe my perspective as well. For various reasons I have not been able to have the awesome race seasons in the past few years as I did in 2009, 2010, and early 2011 and your post made me feel a lot more at peace with that. Seems like one health issue after another is holding me back this year. I need to accept that it's okay to give my body an extended period of time to recover.
