Normally my "sick/workout" rule is that if my complaints are above the neck, I carry on; if they're below my neck I rest. I just saw the doctor for a sinus infection that is most painful in my ears. I'm starting a big ole course of amoxicillin. Should I rest or push through because it's still above the neck?

I just finished my 10 days of amoxicillin yesterday. I felt my absolute worst last Saturday and ended up in urgent care. Everything was blocked by major sinus/ear crud. By Tuesday, I felt OK and mentally prepared to run. I did a super slooooow 3 miles, but I honestly felt like that run was the turning point because by the next day I was totally fine to do 6 miles at my normal pace.
So, my short answer is to give it a day or two, but then get out there, lol. Hope you feel better soon!

I'd definitely rest from swimming, since it's an ear issue (of course, I may be preaching to the choir here). Maybe do a yoga workout or a stretching workout for the first couple days until the antibiotics kick in?
I get sinus infections often. They hit me HARD, so I rest the first 2-3 days. On day 3 or 4, I'll usually go to the gym and do the elliptical to ease back into things.

I'd rest or at least take it really slowly for the next couple of days. When I get them, they usually suck the life out of me so the most I can do until the meds start to work is get through the necessary stuff (work, taking care of kid), then go straight to bed. Hope you're feeling better soon.
I went to strength tonight (straight from the Dr., lol) but tomorrow I am teaching my swim clinic. I will not rush around trying to fit a workout in on top of teaching, and will take tomorrow off from actually working out. We'll see how Thursday feels. Hopefully by the weekend I will feel pretty ok. This is my last weekend before my HIM training plan starts so we wanted to get out hiking.
I have a sinus infection right now, but it's not that bad (yet) b/c the doctor and I caught it early. I'll typically take at least 2-3 days off and then ride easy and shorter duration until I feel better. I rode today but slower.

Same here. I can count on being wiped out on the couch for a few days at least once in the spring and once again in the fall. They hit hard and fast, but I'll give the antibiotics a couple days then carry on as usual.
