DH purchased our home in October 2012. It's a 1640 sq ft modified cape cod. Accents, like the front porch, have been added to give it a craftsman feel. It has 3 br and 1.5 baths and sits on .62 acres.
Here are some pictures from the listing when DH purchased it. It was in OK shape, but dated and in need of updates to the electrical and plumbing. Attachment Deleted
Attachment Deleted First up is the family room. The tile floors were horribly done. All of the grout is loose and there are chipped tiles. This is a pre-sell project for us. We're just going to regrout them and replace the chipped tiles. We've repainted and redecorated and put in new wooden blinds. We also redid all of the outlets and switches and the thermostat. The big wall on the right has been wired for a wall-mounted LCD TV.
Attachment Deleted The kitchen. The previous owners installed just enough granite to look OK in pictures. The entire back counter is laminate that's old and chipped. We're actually putting in granite to match the island this week. Glass tile backsplash is going in as well. We've repainted, redone the electrical-wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures, and replaced the appliances. Attachment Deleted The sun room I guess you'd call it. It's a bonus room added to the front of the house. We have it staged as a sitting area. It's been repainted, it has all new blinds, electrical-wiring, fixtures, outlets, and the window boxes in the front are planted with seasonally appropriate (real) plants. Those are silk plants in the picture.
Here's the former bathroom. This is where we've done the most work in one place. We tore it down to the studs, relocated plumbing, and rebuilt it. As in the other rooms we've redone all of the electrical as well.Attachment Deleted
I don't have any pictures of the bed rooms. There are two up and one down. The bedroom downstairs is big. When we bought the house the closet was unfinished. It was a mess of insulation and wires. So we finished it off and added some shelves. We repainted the room, redid the electrical and put in blinds. Right now it serves a dual purpose as a guest room and play room. When we list I'll stage it as just a guest room.
The two upstairs bedrooms are an adequate size. One of the rooms didn't have a closet. The previous owners were using the attic crawl space and handing their clothes off of a heating pipe. So we sacrificed 2.5 ft of the room and put in a closet and set of built-ins. Both rooms have small decorative dormers. We've redone the electrical, repainted, and put in new blinds and light fixtures.
Minor changes, and I'll post new pictures of that soon. We're in the process of replacing the laminate counter tops with granite to match the island. We just had that put in yesterday. I'm installing a mosaic backsplash this weekend. We've also changed out the appliances to stainless and changed out the light fixtures. The color now matches what's in the family room.
