My trainer (who I'm close to, so it's not super weird that I talked to him about this) says that once I am KU, he won't let me into class without a heart rate monitor on. He's trained plenty of pregnant woman, so I trust him to take good care of me. (and yes I will consult my OB on exercise once the time comes).
I don't have a rec on a HRM, but can I ask what his reasoning is for this? HR recs while exercising during pregnancy seem to vary by dr.
He said he's more comfortable knowing what it is and keeping an eye on it. He'd not restrict it unless a doctor said so. It sounds like a personal comfort thing for him based on his prior training experiences. I'll work with him on it because I do trust him and I don't want to have to skip his classes for something like that.

I need to take some of this quality from you. I would be pissed. This is sort of an antiquated practice, and I would feel like he was insinuating that I might not be able to control myself. This must be what H is talking about when he tells me I'm a little sensitive about parenting, ha!

The Polar F6 is good. I has one that served me well for years (7ish). The chest strap and watch battery are both dead now, and I haven't gotten around to replacing them. You have a Garmin don't you? I used the 305 HRM function, even though it was clunky.
Sounds like a good idea to have one. My RPE gets so skewed when I'm pregnant, I used the HRM as a guide to make sure wasn't overdoing it. It does trend higher when pregnant, but I was uneasy seeing to get into the upper 160's/170's and would reign it in when I saw that.
Looking forwarding to seeing a BFP announcement soon!

I don't take it that way because he's not actually telling me to do anything different. All he's asking me to do is wear an HRM, because - to him - it gives him some indicator of how I'm doing. He also knows I push myself extremely hard and don't always pull back when I should.
Blargh, now you all hate my trainer. Seriously, he's a great guy, he's been in the industry a long long time, and he gets results.

My Garmin is a Forerunner 10, no ANT+. Maybe I should ask for a new one

No, no, no - I'm sure he is awesome! And your personal history frames the way you view his suggestion. I think this is my personal issue, not yours
