for a follow up on a job interview? I want to call and find out how far along they are in their decision, or whatever, but don't know what to ask, how long to wait before calling, etc. I am very out of the loop and really am hoping to get this job. I feel good about the interview, but am so anxious/nervous waiting! I interviewed Thurs and took the "common sense test" online that evening. (You know the test, have you ever stolen from work? Have you ever done drugs and gone to work? etc)
I would wait one week. When you call, tell them you are following up from the interview and ask if you can provide any additional information that will help with their decision.
Also send a thank you email if you haven't already. Basically thanking them for taking the time to interview you and saying you are excited about this opportunity. When I have interviewed people in the past, the people who did this always stood out.
I know it's too late now, but I usually ask at the end of the interview what their next steps are so that I can get an idea of the time frame, so I'm not freaking out. If they didn't say anything to give you any time frame, a week seems reasonable to check in.
