I don't have another place for this, so here seems good enough.
At breastfeeding class last night I could not believe how closely the newborns resembled vampires. I kept laughing out loud. I am an embarassment.
What??? Lol. Like physically resembled them or reminded you of them leaching off of people?
We used to call DS a tiny vampire because he was up all night in the hospital. Like " why wont this vampire just GO TO SLEEP?!?!"
Anyway, with DS1 I had a crazy oversupply and would regularly overfill my pumping bottles and have to switch in the middle of pumping. Now with DS2 I worked at not having an oversupply and get posses when I have to pump twice just to get one 4 ounce bottle! The most I have gotten this time is like 5 ounces in one session. With DS1 I think the most was 18ounces.

My toddler is like a vampire sometimes. He pulls and whines at my shirt and as soon as a boob appears he sinks his teeth in, not really, but it certainly looks that way.

In the videos they kept smacking their lips and making hunger grunt sounds and then the look of content on their faces afterwards... reminded me of True Blood.
Ha ha. This is a great description. I think DS could be described as a vampire (maybe a milkpire) he still sees my boob, starts breathing fast, grabs it in both hands and lunges for it. He is crazy.
We used to call DD "Birdie" sometimes because she was always rooting around like a little bird when she wanted to eat.
Yes I just had no idea how overt they were in their desire for food. I was like holy crap they are ravenous!
Haha. DS1 acted like we had been starving him for weeks and would flip the fuck out and then practically attack my boob. DS2 just makes some little unhappy noises like "um, hey guys, I think you may have forgotten to feed me, not sure. Just a heads up. Yeah you should probably go ahead and feed me now. Thanks." Then he acts like he is testing the milk to make sure it is ok first.

I say DD makes "birdie face" too when she's rooting, lol! I pump 3x at work, and get 14-18 oz total. I had huge oversupply when I first started BFing, and really worked to reduce it. Now I go back and forth between worrying about oversupply and not being able to pump enough for day care. I can't win!

I am practically a non responder to the pump. The most I ever got with DS1 was 4 oz and the most with DS2 is 6 ounces one time. I can usually only pump an ounce in 25 minutes, no matter how long it's been since he nursed. I would jump for joy to pump what some of you could.
When I was pregnant, one of my mom friends loved to tell me about her friend that could just pump twice a day and then anyone could feed the baby! She didn't want to hear that that's totally not common.

I don't have that crazy of a supply, but a pretty healthy one. Oversupply is a blessing and a curse. The other morning my breasts woke me up at 4:30 to pump while my baby was sleeping away. And I know other mom's would love that.
We call DS Zombie baby when he's acting ravenous like that - he'll try to latch on to anything! We watched a Walking Dead marathon the first week home, so he's always been our little zombie baby.

Add me to the jealous category, too. The most I ever got pumping was 6oz total. While I guess I was lucky in that I could consistently get at least 2oz per pump session (which adds up if you're pumping several times a day), I was always in awe of women on my BMB that would pump oz in the double digits.

I had a supply like that with my first. I pumped twice a day and had at least 24 ounces. I thought that was normal. With my second, I was lucky to get 15 + oz of milk with three sessions a day. I had no idea how easy I had it with DS1.
Someone on ML posted that she routinely got 45-50 oz a day.
One of my bffs was like this. Her son never latched so she EP'd from the beginning and had one hell of an over supply. She stopped pumping at 9 months and he continued to get exclusively BM until he was over 1 year. She said that quite literally their freezer was nothing but milk.
