Is anyone familiar with the Priority Placement Program (PPP)? I'm not sure why I've never heard about this before, but a few weeks ago I went to Civilian Personnel and was told I should register. I have a better chance getting a GS job as a spouse under PPP, rather than as a vet (w/ no disability). I turned in my paperwork, so now I'm just waiting for a call back to set up an interview/let me know what series and grade I am eligible for.
In the meantime, I'm still applying for GS jobs with just my veteran status. If a qualified spouse registered with PPP applies for the same job I do, will he/she automatically be hired? How long does this process take? I have other questions for CPO, but would like to hear any personal experiences.
I was offered a gs job through the ppp, i called the civilian employment office on a wednesday and was in the program by friday. As long as you have your resume/cv ready to go there really isnt much more to do. I'm not sure if a spouse in PPP would have preference over a veteran, you could ask when you have your interview and go over all the details.
Something to know is that you have to apply to every single job you are eligible for. If you fail to apply for one they can kick you out of the program. Also, if you are offered a job and decline it, you are no longer allowed to participate in the program. The cpol person will go over all of that, but keep that in mind when you agree to what series and grade you are willing to take.
I entered into the program at the end of september, applied to about a dozen jobs, and was offered one in january. I ended up turning it down, but I otherwise would not have been eligible to apply, and would do it again at another duty station.
