I was thinking today how I am not excited to end the Open with burpees. I can do them, obviously, but I'm weirdly slow at them. I would be ok with them surprising us again and not doing burpees! Or 7 minutes of thrusters because eww.

wambam you said you automatically got the round of 18, so just do the round of 21s and add it on to your 7 minutes. That totally counts, right?
This is going to take me a long-ass time, but I'll do it. Like I said, I'm slow at burpees, but I'm telling myself that with this volume maybe slow and steady will be an advantage. The only question is whether I can do steady...
This is going to take me FOREVER. I am bummed about both feet having to jump over the bar at the same time. I am going to fall on my face and get no-repped.

So I did 1 thruster today with like 2 kgs over the required weight (it was there, it was loaded, I had to give it a shot), and I actually said "Nope" afterward. I wanted to be like the little nope octopus and run away. Instead I will have to do pretty much the same thing EIGHTY FOUR TIMES and also do a ton of burpees. Eff.

I'm just gonna do it with 55-60 pounds and see how far I get. I know I can do 21 with 65 but that will take me like 3-4 min. Today's wod was 35-25-15 push-ups pull-ups and backwards walking lunges. As if my shoulders weren't sore already....
Pure, unadulterated misery. There is no upside or reprieve. Just torture.

Oh goody, I can't wait! I'm not doing it until Monday because I'm a little sore today.
We have a bunch of people in the 20-somethings. Our top guy did it in 11:07, and our top girl did it in 13:45. I'm aiming to beat 28 minutes based on other people in my box who've done it so far.
I got 18:54 which on one hand was not as good as I had hoped (I was aiming for 16-17 because the two women that I am usually competitive with got 14 and 17 minutes). However thrusters are just a terrible exercise for me and I knew that I would likely be quite a bit higher than that. My B goal was sub 20 and I made that, so I'm still pretty happy.
We had a huge range at our gym, from 14 minutes up to a few guys who were almost crawling over the bar to finish their burpees at 45 minutes. That was hard to watch. Typical time seems to be low to mid 20's. It's painful in the moment, and the anticipation was bad for this one, but at worst it's only a half hour out of your life.
