I didn't start watching himym until a few seasons in... How do we know Victoria isn't the mother?
And then there's the points about The Mother being in the econ class at Columbia and being roommates with Cindy (Rachel Bilson) and also being at the Saint Patrick's Day party that Ted and Barney attended. I guess Victoria COULD have been the same girl, but it would be a stretch since she was supposedly in Germany during that timeframe, and also since she never mentioned to Ted that she saw him at Columbia or knew that he was dating Cindy.
I didn't know the Lucky Penny info, but I had forgotten about these clues. I am apparently terrible about remembering details.
I'm still not happy about Robin and Barney ending up together but whatever. It sounds like there is a possibility that Victoria will go back to the church and that will be over. Which quite honestly makes me happy because that whole twist is just ridiculous.
I am also laughing at this guy calling Lily and Marshall the "coolest couple ever". More like the most annoying couple ever.
I do have one tiny thing that irritates me. It's irrational and I'm embarrassed that this bothers me as much as it does but I will share anyway: why can't they give Robin hair extensions for these flashbacks?
She has shorter hair now but her hair was longer in all prior seasons. It makes me think these flashbacks are from when she was dating Kal Penn's character and I know that's not the case LOL
I said the same thing! They always changed Lily's hair for the flashbacks, do why not Robin?
At the end I was hoping they'd do a crazy twist and have Victoria be Barney's bride because we know she doesn't end up with Ted, but no, they had to make it Robin.
All the finales are disappointing me this season. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood for it all.
Too funny! I actually thought the same thing about there being a twist with Victoria as Barney's bride. Who knows though? Now that I think about it I'm not sure if it is Robin. I'm probably nitpicking but what did Ted say when he opened the door? Was it, "The bride wanted to see me" or "you wanted to see me"? It would've been clearer to say "Hey, bride, you wanted to see me".
I really like Quinn, and I like her and Barney together. I can't stand Robin and was hoping she wasn't the bride, but kinda knew it was coming.
Lily and Marshall were HELLA annoying with the "only come to us with something that's an 8 or higher". Ugh, if my friends with kids said that, we would not be friends anymore.
I'm meh re: Victoria. I don't care about her either way, but do think it's stupid to bring her in again when she's not the mom.
In the context of having a two-day old baby, I thought the 8 or higher rule was funny and appropriate. With an older child, it would be assy. But also having to deal with Ted's issues IRL would get draining whether I had a kid or not.
I love the middle name Wait for it. It's just funny. Marvin is a bad baby name, but it's sweet and sentimental.
I hated the round about, let's throw everything in writing this episode had. There were some fun parts, but they were trying to include too much of the stuff they've promised us over the years.
Ah! I knew it would be Robin. Her and Barney have such great chemistry. I thought so long before they even first hooked up.

Lol! I've said the same thing to MH about flashbacks before. Especially since Lily's hair has really varied over the seasons.
I am annoyed that they aren't advancing the Ted storyline and are just wasting our time. I'm glad they de-sadsackified Robin as the season went on.
New here! But jumping in to say ... I KNEW it was Robin. I mean Lily is a bridesmaid and she asked to speak to Ted. It was just a big clue. I do want to know what happened to Gwen.

Sorry for the late post, I just got caught up last night.
Urgh, Barney deserves so much better than Robin. She has become so whiny and annoying. Quinn has been growing on me.
Is it my imagination (I also follow NPH on Twitter, so maybe I'm confusing NPH-stuff with Barney-stuff) but haven't they hinted that Barney would really like kids? I feel like there was some stuff around his nephew, and talks with Ted that really implied that, which gave me another reason to vote against Barney and Robin, since we know Robin never has kids.
I honestly can't keep track of the comings and goings of Victoria, but I agree that it won't make a whole lot of sense that she's the mom. And, I'm pissed off that Ted, knowing how devastating and embarrassing it is to be left at the altar -- and making the point that he knows that -- still thinks it's okay. I thought at least he'd drive Victoria to the church and encourage her to do the break-up in person, and if it was meant to be than she wouldn't change her mind. I don't see their driving off into the sunset as romantic, just kind of cowardly.
I was a little irritated at everyone for making fun of Marvin's name (on the show, not on here, LOL). They know it's Marshall's dad's name, and how much he meant to Marshall. You're still going to mock it, right to their faces? Some friends made comments about DS's name so maybe I'm a little oversensitive, but it's just rude.

Actually, Robin ends up having two girls. I can't remember what season or episode but they flashed forward to her telling her two children the story of (I think) how she met their father. Hopefully someone else knows what I'm talking about and I wasn't lucid dreaming or something.
I am disappointed in Ted though and I am kind of over hearing about everyone else's life. I'm hoping that season 8 is the last season. I'm ready for this show to be over before I no longer enjoy watching it LOL

Spoilers if you haven't seen that full episode:
That was a dream/fantasy by Robin. She starts off as the narrator (instead of Future Ted/Bob Saget) by telling a boy and a girl, who are sitting on a couch in Barney's apartment, about her and their father, which is revealed to be Barney. Robin thinks she's pregnant because she missed her period but goes to the gyno with Barney and gets a negative pregnancy test. Later in the episode her gyno tells her that she's actually unable to ever have children. Robin is shown talking to the boy and girl on the couch again, but then they fade away and it's revealed that Robin is just drinking eggnog by herself on a park bench and imaging what "could have been" if she was able to have children someday. Then she went back to her and Ted's apartment and just cried with him, without telling him what was wrong. She told him about her infertility in a later episode (the one where he said he could overlook it because he was still in love with her and then she rejected him).
Robin never wanted children, which I think made the episode really weird, but it's understandable that she was upset that the choice had been suddenly taken away from her. I know I was really pissed at the dream sequence with the kids because it felt like a dirty trick rather than a creative plot twist.

You weren't dreaming, she was. That episode ends with her saying to the kids, "And that's why you're only in my imagination" or whatever and they disappear. And I think later on the narration says flat-out that she never had kids.
