I've done lots of googling, but never talked to somebody who has actually done it.
The short version is I have a knee problem that hasn't been able to be fixed even with years of sports medicine and PT. Even the minimal amount of exercises I need to do cause so much swelling and inflammation that I can't walk the next day, which has out me in a catch 22 for something like 7 years.
I've heard some good things about prolo, but of course my insurance company doesn't cover it and it's expensive. And I've heard it's painful. If you've had experience with it, did it work for you? How long/how many sessions did it take?
Long version: It's been dx'd (in this order) as myofasciitis, pes anserine bursitis, and my left knee being about 1/4" lower than my right. Same leg length, just different lengths of the bones. The lack of a strong consistent dx is frustrating, and not a single Dr I've seen has been able to comprehend that I can *do* stuff but then I'm incapacitated after. I've had MRI's, there is no visible injury. I have no stability issues. It's not impact that is a problem, it's repetitive bending- running, cycling, squats, lunges, etc are all out. I can *do* those things, but the inflammation is so bad the next day (and for weeks to months after, depending) that even the weight of a lightweight blanket on my knee is so painful it keeps me up at night. It gets visibly swollen- NSAIDS don't help, neither does ice, foam rolling, ultrasound, TENS (although I think I'm going to give that a shot again because I'll have access to a unit shortly), acupuncture, ART, or other myofascial release techniques. If I overdo it, k-tape helps a little, but not enough and doesn't really address the issue.
It's been about 3 years since I've focused on it, because that gets fricking exhausting and expensive, so there may be some other options available now so I'm open to hearing other suggestions if you have them.
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.

The worldsong is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference that should be celebrated not condemned." -Ani Difranco
Have you tried PRP if it's soft tissue? It's proven and is usually covered by insurance. I'd get a referral to the "BEST" sports med guy in your city and see if it might be right for you. I have knee pain daily, but I'm still recovering from 2 knee surgeries last fall.
