I don't know why its so dead! I have not been super active posting anywhere on here lately. I mostly lurk when I am avoiding research.... blach. I agree with Leah that grad school is kicking my ass, and there is only so long I can avoid doing things on my dissertation before my chair yells at me (hint, that would be last week lol).
I also never announced around here that I got accepted for the HPSP scholarship for Air Force clinical psychology (those on FB probably saw this) and I am now a Lt on inactive duty (until I graduate then I'll rank up and be active duty) exciting!!!
In other news we are just biding our time to find out how MH fairs with the RIF boards coming up summer/fall. His AFSC/year group is getting SLASHED. like woah. We'll see, I could be getting in just as he is getting out, lol. What a switcheroo that would end up being.
Sounds like everyone has exciting things going on!
My H is finishing up sea tour, and we will likely be PCSing at the beginning of next year. The more exciting news, is that we're expecting our first child (as long as all continues to go well)!

Life's just been busy here. Work, life, craziness. DH is worried about the RIF boards later this year. So not sure what the next year will bring for us. My company is looking at merging with another company, so really not sure what the next year will bring...
I have a few personal projects I am _trying_ to get done, too, but they are proving to be very time consuming. blargh. Not enough hours in the day!
Add another one to the list of worried DH's with the RIF board. His year group/branch isn't getting cut too much and his OERs have been stellar but there is still a bit of worry.
Work has been crazy with quite a few shifts lately and I'm waiting for things to settle and interview for a higher position! We should have someone flying in from the states in the next few weeks to help out.
My parents are flying out next month for 10-days and I'm so excited! Now to plan everything!
I'm insanely busy with Corps School but we're about half way done now. DH is getting ready to PCS in May and I'm hoping we get our orders in the next few weeks here. My request to be awarded the respiratory tech specialty got approved. DH took the E-6 exam a few weeks ago. We just have a lot going on right now. Time flies when you're busy though.
I'm trying to post more, it has been crazy here since we just moved and we're still getting adjusted. DH just deployed so I've been making an effort to stay busy with the boys and keep occupied
We have discussed plans for the "just in case" scenario that DH is selected by the RIF board. We hope not, but between that and him hitting primary zone on his next hopeful promotion next year, the next two years for us are a bit uncertain. Best to have back up plans...
KC we had the warnings for the funnel cloud/tornado last night but we are closer to UCD Hospital than where the actual funnel cloud hit. My students saw it though. I didn't hear the end of it today since our current unit is weather!
School is awesome. I love teaching and am kicking myself for not doing this earlier!
E is super busy with work and school. He's working his job plus doing the work of 2 other people with out the extra pay.
We are still working on our marriage, its hard when one spouse is dealing with what E is and has untreated depression.
Sounds like everyone has exciting things going on!

I am not too worried about H getting RIFed. They only needed like 5 people from his squad to volunteer to leave and they have something like 20-30 who want to volunteer. Apparently they can't get out fast enough over here.
I am really busy with school, and tend to lurk on ML when I am not doing anything, (i.e. Procrastinating school work) I have my MA application in, and I need to be working on a paper that I will be presenting at a conference next week. If all goes well, I will be able to start doing full time Master's classes and have my degree in a year. It is incredibly intimidating though. This and last semester has really taken a toll on my self esteem. Yikes.
I'm currently snowed under with work stuff and finishing up my Master's thesis. My adviser gave me the green light to send my current draft to the rest of the committee last week, which is awesome, but I'm pretty anxious about their comments. I'm tentatively scheduled to defend the first week of May, though, so the end is close regardless. I CANNOT WAIT TO BE FINISHED WITH GRAD SCHOOL! GOODBYE, LAST THREE YEARS OF MY LIFE! HELLO, FREEDOM!
H's unit is downsizing for reasons I don't completely understand, and his job is going to be eliminated in the process. They've already told us that he'll be transferred to a new unit (at the same base) sometime this summer so we don't need to worry about a PCS yet, but this has totally fucked our plans to go to Italy for our anniversary since he really doesn't feel right requesting leave the second he gets to whichever unit they eventually decide to place him with. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to take the trip in the fall, but that depends on him getting leave AND my principal agreeing to let me take a week of leave at the beginning of the next school year.
H is out of the Marines now, technically. He is on the inactive reserved list for 3 more years, but that really means nothing. He's going to school and just got a job at Lockheed Martin. We also moved to Florida and are loving it so far.
I got a job here in November and like it so far. I am a children's in home therapist so I do a lot of work from home or wherever I can get internet. It's also nice on days like today where I feel like shit because I can hang out on my couch for a while and do work.
Been lurking off and on; just been busy with life in general. DD (10) is giving me a run for my money on a near daily basis and it's been a roller coaster of a year getting her officially Dx as being OCD and extreme anxiety to go along with her ADD. Meeting with her psychologist to establish what we need from a 504 plan for her and then needing to follow up with her school. It's difficult when you have a (very) tall, intelligent 4th grader that just does't get basic social cues (no, she does not have Asperger's) and it's all ("misbehavior") linked back to her anxiety and need to be in control of her environment.
Chasing a 2 year old is just plain fun. Really, he's a doll baby and tickled he seems to be such a happy-go-lucky kid. Then I also volunteer as DD's GS troop asst. leader and am so happy cookie season has wrapped up. Throw in working FT still and now house hunting as our family is growing (kid #3 due early July!) We've just been busy busy busy.
DH is still in ARNG, he retires in 2.5 yrs and is counting down the days. Will be going to Guatemala for a short stint soon and I've put the pressure on him to also decide on his career path as his days as a deputy is looking numbered (his Sheriff has decided against running in the next election and it is no secret that that the city wants to close the jail). I really wish he would take advantage of his GI Bill since he doesn't want to do helicopter mechanics FT.

I'm here! H is finally on his first deployment; his back troubles almost changed things up (again) and kept him home. I'm so happy that he feels like he's finally doing his job and that he gets to bond with his squadron.
W and I are with my parents and doing fine; we're using this time to travel to friends and family around the country. He'll be a seasoned plane-traveler by the time H gets home. I really got lucky with such a chill kid.

Hello! I've only posted a few times, but I'm trying to be more active on these boards. My husband recently received his commission, and we PCSed to Fort Benning for BOLC. Everything was going great, until my husband was injured doing combatives last week. He was sparring with another guy, and this guy accidentally tore my husband's abdominal muscle. He's in excruciating pain, on some pretty heavy meds, and he has a profile right now. He will probably get recycled into the next BOLC class, since he can't do PT or anything that involves doing something other than sitting in a chair. Not the end of the world, but he's disappointed.
Some good news, though-we got our first choice duty station! After he graduates from BOLC, we'll be headed to Fort Carson! We're really excited about it, since our good friends are PCSing there too.
The kids and I are getting used to life in Georgia, and we're enjoying it so far. Benning is a really nice base.
H's field/year group is expecting a 50% RIF. Hopefully that will mostly be people about to retire (there are a lot of prior e's in his field so they're "old" for the rank)
H has been chosen for [special program]. We were supposed to find out assignment details in Mar. 1 Apr an email went out saying they're running behind by about a month, and they should know end of April for possible May PCS.
