I ran laps at a basketball court this morning. It made me think about how thankful I am that I enjoy running more now than I did as a basketball player in high school.
My bff and her family and planning an impromptu visit to stay with us this weekend. I am so thankful to have time with her this weekend out of the blue.

I'm thankful for physical therapy and making progress regaining the use of my finger. You wouldn't think it would affect much just being a pinky, but it really does.
I'm also thankful for my in-laws living right down the street. Youngest DD has a virus keeping her out of school and my retired FIL has been watching her so we don't have to miss work.
I am thankful for the Groupon deal I just picked up for a 1 hour reflexology foot rub. It's at a new place, so it could be either creepy or fabulous, but I'm willing to chance it. Ever since I had a foot massage in NYC a few years ago that was the most amazing thing ever I've been wishing for another one. DH was so sick of hearing about it I think he was about to buy me a plane ticket!
I'm thankful I have had a successful training cycle, and am excited to taper and then start training again for MCM.
DS has his first away lacrosse game this w/e, and it just so happens to be in our old town (45 minutes away, what are the odds?!?) I'm thankful we get to go back to our favorite spots (of course food related, lol), and that I can look back with 100% certainty that this move was the best thing for us. I did not feel that way the first Summer, but this feels more like home than our old town ever did in our 8 years there. I'm also thrilled that DS likes lacrosse so much. He never had the love of cross country and track that his sister does, so I'm glad he has his own thing.

The backstory first: H and I have a tradition in which we plan a surprise birthday trip for each other. I never feel right using our joint money for these trips, so I squirrel money away all year. This year is his 40th, so I am planning a surprise party in addition to his trip. I was a little worried about how I was going to afford both. Especially since, due to budget cuts, my agency didn't give performance bonuses this year. But earlier this week, we were talking about our Southwest points. Turns out that we have more points than I thought, and he ended up suggesting that I use them for his trip. This allowed me to save so much money that I was able to book a rooftoop pool room at a resort in Mexico and reserve the caterer for his party. It's going to be a great birthday for him!

I'm thankful for a great birthday yesterday, and for my wife doing all the right things for me. I'm thankful for out-of-town friends visiting this weekend and for time with family. I'm thankful for my boy. He makes me laugh.
I'm thankful that I found an awesome swimsuit tonight! Most of them just make me look weird.
I'm also thankful for having two awesome runs this week - one kind of fast and the other totally lazy, but the kind where you are just zoned out and barely realize that you've gone so far.

That's no joke. H had surgery on his pinkie a few years ago and there were so many things that he either had trouble doing or couldn't do because of it. It was pretty surprising.

I'm so thankful that the blizzard completely missed us last night and out of the 8 inches we were supposed to get, we got no snow at all! I'm ready to see grass again, even if that means allergy season.

I'm thankful we did not get so much as a flurry yesterday. I'm thankful my SIL made it home safely from Africa. I'm thankful for my DS's smiling face every morning. And DH's warm, strong hugs. And I'm super glad that I only have 1 more hour of work before I go home and pack for the weekend! I've resigned myself to the fact that the race is going to suck (poor training, 100% chance of rain and mid-40s), but I am so excited to see my nieces and nephew.
I am thankful for my children. This week has been awful work wise, even for someone who only works 20 hours a week. My children are everything to me and when work is shitty and it's time away from my children, it makes me want to quit.
