It was a little surreal being in my old pool, with different people but it felt just the same once we started swimming, except much, much harder LOL. I made it through about 3,300 yards in about an hour and I felt pretty darn good about that. Now, if I can walk tomorrow-or lift my arms, that's a whole different story.
As for #8, the competitive nature never goes away! You just start competing against yourself. Or you can be like my sister and compete against random people that have no idea that they're in a competition. Look at me running 10 minutes longer than that girl next to me, or 1 mph faster, jumping higher, squatting lower than that random person in the gym I have never met before.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you had a great workout. How often will you practice with them?
Any recommendations for a swim cap for me? I have a decent Speedo one now but I'm nervous it's going to rip soon and I want to buy a couple more as backup.

I did! I like the cheap ones funny enough- regular old latex. I've had one OK silicone one, it wasn't as strechy/slippery as the others.
I usually just swim in team latex or fun latex caps. I do need new ones though- and some new goggles, thanks for reminding me!
ETA: I'm hoping to practice with them 2-3 days a week. I desperately need some cross training in my life.

Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Swimming always amps me up, and it takes me a good hour or two to settle back down, but I do sleep really well on swim days. LOL
boston340 - I'm a weirdo with a two-cap habit, so I prefer TYR silicone caps with a no-name latex cap over top. Honestly, if you don't have a preference, I've probably got at least 15 latex caps I've worn once or not at all (from races/events). If you want one, let me know, I'll toss it in an envelope for you.

mrs.jacinthe I will definitely take you up on that offer - you are so sweet to volunteer to give me one to try! I will PM you my address.
Speaking of shipping stuff, Wines Not Whines your Road ID is in the mail!
Good for you! It can be really hard to get back out there for something you haven't done in a long time. Love this list, even though I wasn't much of a student athlete. (More like a high school track drop out...)

Bahaha this is me when on the treadmill. I'm always like "totally beat that guy next to me, he never even knew it was a race"
