My first instinct was to just go for it but really, it's just one month so I say wait and enjoy your vacation and not worry about the logistics of knowing/telling/hiding.
We had a similar debate, but for us the timing of going on mat leave before the end of the school year was so great, so we just figured what the hell, let's go for it.
Then I told myself that it might take a few cycles, so we should get the first one out of the way. Maybe I'm reverse jinxing myself?
I would go for it. Odds are you won't get pregnant this month, and if you do I am sure you will be so happy that you won't care about the other stuff.
FWIW, I found out I was pregnant with my first when my DH was out of town and, for various reasons, ended up telling my mother before I told him. It was totally fine, and we are very happy to have the resulting child.

My first instinct was to say just go for it. But, as someone who put off our TTC plans for an additional 2 months due to something kind of last minute that I really wanted to do (and absolutely could not be even a little pregnant while doing it), I understand the "it's only a month so wait" school of thought. It sounds like either way, it's a good thing.
I was happy to not be pg in the summer last time, but having a baby in Feb was tough for me. It was really cold that year so I couldn't easily step outside to check the mail or take the dogs in the yard with the baby for the first few weeks. I think spring is the ideal time!
Being five months pregnant (cute round bump) at Christmas is better than being four months pregnant (is she just eating too many cookies?). But maybe I'm the only vain one!
Since I am sure you're all dying for a state of the ute update, we have decided to wait until next month. DH was not loving the idea of me finding out a week before him and I was not loving the idea of not drinking (and explaining why I am not drinking) with my mom. Since the second part of the trip is just mom, lucy and me, alcohol will likely be necessary.
