It is in the low 40s, cloudy, and a little damp. (Rained yesterday and will again later today.). We're going for a 2 hr ride.
I have limited cycling cold weather gear. I have cycling tights, short sleeve jerseys, and long sleeve shirts to layer under jerseys. I have non-cycling-specific other stuff - jackets, gloves, etc. In past years I'd have stayed in on the trainer in this weather but this year is am over it.
I just ran last night in the same weather in a long sleeve shirt/no layers and capri's but cycling is colder and windier. Help?
Tights over shorts. Long sleeve base layer, short sleeve jersey, arm warmers, light "wind" jacket. Fleece long finger cycling gloves. Shoe covers. Possibly a fleece headband under the helmet.
Hmm. I own like half that stuff. No shoe covers, no full fingered cycling gloves, no arm warmers. Fleece headband is a good idea though. I'll see what I can cobble together!
I ended up being ok. I wore cycling tights, long sleeve base layer top under short sleeve jersey, fleece headband, and cycling gloves with thicker fleece gloves in my jersey pocket (that I ended up not needing).
I highly suggest in getting a pair of arm warmers. I use them for both running and biking. They were <$20 on Nashbar, and have gotten so much use since purchased.

I second this. It's that time of year when bike shops and catalogs have a lot of winter clothing at 50% off. Shoe covers are good, too. Knee warmers, too.
