A lot of these spring marathon are getting close!!
What race & when? Training plan for the week? Does the weather look good for training this week? What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? Any setbacks? AW's to share?
I also want to say nice work to you all so far. Sometimes at the start of training I feel so overwhelmed looking at the many miles and workouts. Even though I've had a few setbacks, I've completed a lot of training. I'm getting there!! I'm just reflecting on the journey this morning and all I've been able to do. I hope you guys can also give thanks for your progress and feel good about how strong you really are. You are awesome.
I'm sure the taper crazies are hitting soon for some of you -- and others are just at the start of training -- so I'll be quiet now.
Ive been really bad.about participating in this....
What race & when? Bob potts, may 25
Training plan for the week? First 20 miler woohoo. The plan calls for 50 miles this week, which is likely not.happening. ill be happy with 35.
Does the weather look good for training this week? Lots if rain, but at least no snow, so i wont complain
What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? I swim after a long run to stretch out, it feels great.
Training plan for the week? Easy run tomorrow, 6-7 miles of speed on Wed or Thursday, long run of 10-13 this weekend.
Does the weather look good for training this week? Rain/snow/blizzard tonight and colder, but it looks decent by later in the week.
What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? I need to stretch my back, piriformis, Achilles, calves, and I do core work at least several times per week.
Any setbacks? Nope, happily I'm back to feeling good.
AW's to share? I feel like I've shared this ad nauseam here, but I had a great 20 miles on Saturday. So happy the roads were dry & I felt good!
Training plan for the week? M-10 w/ 7 at sub 7!, T-Chisel class, W-8 w/ intervals, Th-8, F- 4 plus strength, Sa- rest, Su-10 mile race. H is switching to w/e this week, which means no long run until next Tuesday. I can't believe I only have two of them left!
Does the weather look good for training this week? WARMER! Maybe rainy, but eh. it's April. I'll focus on WARMER!
What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? I like yoga and pilates, but I do them more off season. I need to be better about this. Leg lifts and ball squeezes help when my knees get achy.
Any setbacks? Nope. Knock on wood. We made it through the stomach bug last week.
AW's to share? I'm so darn excited to finally break through my plateau. I hope I can keep up the momentum post marathon, since sometimes the opposite happens.
What race & when? Andy Payne Marathon 9/14 and 24 The Hard Way 10/25
Training plan for the week? 3 miles tomorrow and thurs, and probably 6-8 on Sunday.
Does the weather look good for training this week? Yes, except for severe weather expected on Wednesday. I had hoped to join a group bike ride for the first time, so I don't know if it'll be canceled or not.
What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? Foam rolling, a lot of pigeon-pose to loosen up my hips
Any setbacks? I ran a hilly 6 miles in Texas this weekend. My right butt and hip hurt, so I'm sure that's probably not a good sign. But I'm going to figure out how to work through it.
AW's to share? My Bia watch has finally shipped and will be delivered today. It's been a long wait, but I think the watch will be worth it. Also, the ave pace for my 6 mile long run was under 11min/mile, so I'm happy.

What race & when? Boston 4/21
Training plan for the week? Keep on, keeping on. An hour of cardio at least 5x, weights X2
Does the weather look good for training this week? Yep, a little rain on Friday, but it'll still be warm.
What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training?
Ice/epsom salt baths after long runs. I wish both long runs and baths occurred more frequently around here.
Any setbacks?
My calves have been cramping something wicked on my runs the past couple week. I think it might be my new Brooks. IDK. I ran in my old Saucony's over the weekend and my legs felt fine. (In other news my arches and balls of my feet hurt since there is no padding left in my old shoes.) I ordered a pair of Sauncony's on Amazon that should arrive tomorrow and I have a PT session scheduled for Wednesday. Hopefully, I'll be all patched up by the end of the week.
AW's to share?
Received my "runner's passport" for Boston in the mail this week. It's getting real!
What race & when? Gov Cup 6/14 (<12 wks away!) and Air Force Marathon9/20 Training plan for the week? Ugh, no running. I'm having a IF procedure today. Does the weather look good for training this week? It will be nice at the end of the week (like 50s) but til then not so much. What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? Anything that stretches my hips feels good. That's were I get tight and have pain first on long runs. Any setbacks? Yes, majorly. Going through IF treatments has truly screwed up my training. I got told to back off the running for this last cycle to see if it made a difference, so I haven't run at all the month of March. So depressing. AW's to share? Nope, not this week.
@g22 - I'm crossing my fingers the treatments do their thing!
I'm sure it's rough to give up your training for awhile, but hopefully it makes the difference. Your situation reminds me of Stephanie's blog. Maybe you follow it, but if not, here's a link to her IF journey:

Thanks for her blog. For all the reading/googling I've done for running/marathons/infertility, I don't know if I've come across hers.
I knew it would eventually get to the point where I'd be told to back off, but it still sucks. I've been doing the stationary bike instead so at least my legs get a good workout a few times a week and so I don't completely lose all my progress. But I miss running. Its my favorite

Been through IF treatments and having to give up training and it's rough. I know it seems like there's no light at the end of the tunnel but there is! If you have to cut back you'll get it back. It's all worth it in the end.

Its been so hard to balance them and giving up one for the other. I need this reminder sometimes often. Thank you

We haven't done IF treatments because my husband refuses to do them, but I am also a fellow IFer. That's why I started running-to distract myself from IF. It's also why I started knitting lol.

I picked up running 2 years into TTC as a stress release for work/TTC/everything. I might have found a different stress reliever if I'd known I was IF. lol

Ok maybe not, but still.
Might I suggest knitting? Just stay away from the baby patterns, lol. Ravelry.com is a great place to find patterns, message boards, etc.

Does the weather look good for training this week? I'm afraid to look -- willing to bet my lunch runs in WY will be crazy windy, had gusts of 50+ today [totally not running in that!]. What's are your favorite stretches & recovery routines to keep you injury-free during training? I've been putting the stick to use on my calves this week, and just stretching out my legs whenever I can -- standing, putting gas in my car, cooking, etc Any setbacks? Not this week, was a really good week. AW's to share? I survived a 37 mile training run as part of a 24hr race! Only ran the first 7 hours...completely happy with the distance and how I felt afterward!

I actually learned to knit back in high school. I dabble in it a few times a year when I feel motivated. lol The only thing I think I've ever finished is simple scarves. I'll have to check that site out. Maybe pull my yarn and needles out for the next couple weeks
