My sump pump failed. (Discovered yesterday afternoon)
So, today, I wake up at 7 and am still trying to motivate myself to get some physical energy to steam ahead. Meanwhile, my brain is like a mile a minute. My body, not having it.
Kids are still asleep after toddler had an awful night (cutting 2yr molars).
H came home from work and we had help but, ugh. Followed by the awful nights sleep... Plus, ya know, the 14w thing...
So instead of productive thoughts, my brain is stuck in a panic spiral. *note to self: not helping*
(The universe can move on with its April Fools plans, we have no room here)
UGH. We had this happen two springs ago at our house in CT. The good news was that ours was also sump pump failure and insurance DOES cover that damage unlike other types of water damage in the basement. I am sorry though its a huge pain in the ass.
Feeling calmer and slightly more productive today. I need to go through all my stuff though to see what's salvageable and what isn't. Not looking forward to that task.

Thankfully. Insurance is sending out a guy Thursday morning. My carpet is still rather spongy. I think H's desk is a goner, mine is harder to tell cuz it's a darker stain.
I wish I could claim his phone too. But, sadly, I don't think ambient dampness was enough to kill it.
Thank god we had a "sump pump endorsement" on our insurance. It covers to 5k, so, probably not all the things, but at least the flooring, baseboards and a few bigger items.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your basement. We have a sump pump in our basement and we were afraid the motor was going to burn out after this last storm!
