Last night I finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova, it was such an amazing gutwrenching book. If anybody is looking for a good book, I'd highly recommend this.
Summary Still Alice is a compelling debut novel about a 50-year-old woman's sudden descent into early onset Alzheimer's disease, written by first-time author Lisa Genova, who holds a Ph. D in neuroscience from Harvard University.
Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer's disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what's it's like to literally lose your mind...
This book was really touching! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'd be happy to discuss if you want (though if so maybe we would want to start a spoiler thread).
It was beautiful and well-done, but so hard to read because of the content. I thought the author did an amazing job with really difficult subject matter.
I've owned this book for a couple years but I can't bring myself to read it. I love horror books but stuff like Alzheimer's is what really scares me. I just can't imagine.

I've had this book on my kindle for a while and ended up reading it this weekend. It was a good book but really difficult to read - I cannot imagine this happening to me, my spouse or a parent.

Glad to hear good things about Left Neglected. I loved Still Alice but wasn't sure if I was interested in this one, I can't wait for Love Anthony though, I'm really looking forward to that one.
