It looks like WH won out in the poll. I think we should shoot for 5 chapters a week, which will be around 50ish pages. Is Wednesday a good day to post discussion threads? We could stagger them on different days also if we can't get everyone on the same day. If this seems like too much reading let me know and I'll reduce it to 3-4 chapters.
Week 1: Ch 1-5 (W 5/23) Week 2: Ch 6-10 (W 5/30) Week 3: Ch 11-15 (W 6/6) Week 4: Ch 16-20 (W 6/13) Week 5: Ch 21-25 (W 6/20) Week 6: Ch 26-30 (W 6/27) Week 7: Ch 30-34 (Th 7/5) --to avoid the holiday
This sounds great. Thanks for organizing! ETA: Since the board is in bump mode anyway, even if people can't post on Wednesdays they can still join in, right?

I hope so. I'm 14 hours ahead of US Eastern time right now, so while I want to participate, I'll either be the first poster or I'll be catching up in the US evening. I think we can make it work -- even if the discussion drags on until Thursday or Friday.
I would love to read more of the "classics" but I always get bored and confused. Hopefully this will be enough accountability to keep me interested!
This is me. 50ish pages a week and discussion about said 50 pages feels much more doable and enjoyable and should keep me from getting bored and putting it aside forever
Thanks for breaking it up this way! I can only speak for myself, but I think it's going to be a big help. It's been a little over 10 years since I "read" this in high school, so I'm really looking forward to it.
I want to join this too but have never been part of the book discussion on TN. can someone explain to me how it works?
Thanks and looking forward to the discussion, this is one of my favorite books
I'm not sure we're going to follow the NBC format, but there people just started a bunch of threads based on different topics in the book. I imagine we can use our first books to really feel out how it works.

In case anyone wanted to participate but preferred an audio-book format, I wanted to let you know about Librivox. It's a site of free audio files for many books in the public domain.
I have listened to several books via Librivox files. Some of the recordings are better than others, but they are done by volunteers and they are free, so I really can't complain. And they are a hell of a lot better than the text-to-voice on my Kindle. That sucks big time!
Anyway, I just wanted to let people know there is a source for some free audio versions of classics.
I'll try and join in. Having a baby the first week of June so that will either cut into my reading time or give me tons of reading time (middle of the night feedings!).

Haha! DD2 still doesn't STTN so I do the bulk of my reading at like 3 am :Y:

I'm in :-) I just checked, and I already have it on my Nook.
I know I've read Wuthering Heights before, but it may have been in high school. I really think I might have completed my English major without studying anything by any of the Bronte sisters! I'm excited to see what I think of it as an adult.
