24hr race recap [1st 7hrs]

I did a mini update on the impromptu 24hour race in the original post -- pandce.proboards.com/thread/306530/24hr-race-sort -- but thought I'd throw out the full recap since I know some people are interested in this ultra thing.

I am by no means an expert but am more than happy to share my experience...then try to talk everyone else into joining in!

That's the full recap -- I ended up with 37 miles in 7 hour and a 2nd place finish among women [the 1st woman ran 22 hrs with 82 miles, so yea, she kicked my butt!]

tl;dr -- awesome, laid back race that got me many solid miles and some real confidence in the 50M distance [still working on the elevation confidence!].

I DO have a nutrition recommendation! Tailwind! I have been using it for a couple of months and am never going back! It's a CO company, too. Check it out: link A friend of mine who just ran a 50m and has done multiple IMs uses it religiously - and ONLY this all day (unless he happens to feel like something else, like a couple of chips or something just because he's bored).

I did a quick look-see around the website, but couldn't find an answer. You know how Nuun is.. bubbly? I don't know if effervescent is the right word or not. Not carbonated, like soda, but bubbly like Emergen-C, alka-seltzer, etc. Anyway, do you know if Tailwind is like that? I had gastritis from too much ibuprofen after a horrific wisdom tooth removal a few years ago, and ever since then my stomach cannot handle bubbly stuff like that. It hurts my stomach upon impact, and is no fun at all.

I've heard a lot about Tailwind online and such. Wasn't sure if it was legit or just another company with a big social push...may have to check it out! And by 'may' I mean I'm shopping online as we speak...

The loops were surprisingly bearable -- which is weird. I started looking forward to the one shrub that was extra close to the trail, I made sure to brush it every time I passed just because it had become my friend. So weird.

I totally know what you mean. It's completely flat, no bubbles. The flavor is really light, too, which I love!
