I looked at getting a set but everything was so "busy." We don't really have a theme to our nursery so nothing fit. I have a few crib sheets and a crib skirt. That is it.
we registered for a set, but plan to hang the quilt/blanket on the wall as part of decor. it was pretty cheap for the set, i didn't want something expensive since it can't all be used. i also added some crib sheets that coordinate with the colors, etc.

Just used crib sheets for DD (with mattress pads of course). I decided to just do white so they can be bleached as necessary and I have no angst about buying matching sheets when they need to be replaced (which they have... babies are gross). I'd hate to feel like I was ruining a fancy expensive set by throwing away sheets.

Can you use bleach on baby sheets? I had planned on doing lots of white onesies and side snap tees and bleaching them, but got the "you can't use bleach on baby clothes" speech from like 3 ppl.
I won't buy a bedding set since its a waste. I plan to get a couple sets of sheets and then a crib skirt (or have my mom make one). If I need a bumper I will get the mesh one.
I just have crib sheets and will get a waterproof mattress cover. I'd like a crib skirt but the ones I like are $$$ and I'm cheap. My mom could prob sew one for me but then I'd have to find fabric and I've been unable to find anything I like for a roman shade that I wanted to make, so I don't think I want to go through the trouble.

Hmmm.. No one ever said anything to me.... That's a good question....
I got a set that came with a sheet, dust ruffle, and quilt. I actually picked the set because I really liked the quilt, which we hung as a wall decoration. I was happy to see that the set I liked came with or without bumpers, since we'd have no use for those, and that added a lot of $. We picked up a few extra sheets in colors that 'go' with everything else.
We just got waterproof mattress pads and crib sheets. Actually, they're PNP-sized because we won't be getting an actual crib for a while, but same difference.

we bought a set (ok, my mom bought it for us) and used the bumper when she was first born & not moving. Then we took it out when she could roll, but not pull herself up. We put it back in once she was able to roll, pull up, etc because she was getting her arms/legs stuck. Took it out again at some point & didn't put it back in. The blanket was handy when she was little because we'd use it on the floor -but honestly it mostly hangs out on the back of her chair ...
this time around we're just buying sheets. No sets, no dust ruffles. Dust ruffles only hide the dust as it is ... lol
We are getting an all white set off Etsy that includes a skirt, bumper and crib sheet. I love the way it looks and makes our gold crib stand out, and I figured with white we can use it for the next baby as well. Then, depending on the condition it's in after that, I could sell it or give it to someone since it is so neutral.
