I ran 10 miles with the local running club this morning. It was my longest run since Feb, and was only .05 miles short of being my longest run since my Nov marathon. Anyway, thankfully nothing hurt today, so that was super exciting, but my knees and hips were super stiff for most of the run. I did go on a group bike ride yesterday, but it was a slow and easy ride.
Is it the addition of cycling to my schedule, or maybe my body just needs to adjust to longer runs again? Any suggestions for avoiding stiffness? Is it even possible?
I drink chocolate milk after runs; I guess I thought that that is sufficient? Just to be clear, I'm stiff during the run, not after. But I'll look into the endurox r4, thanks for the rec!
Not sure about the knees, but i struggle with hip stiffness. Longest I've run so far is 9.3, but for my 6, 7, 8 mile runs and the 15k itself, i had great luck with the 25 min. Pre run yoga stretch routine on do yoga with me.com I've done it the day before a run, or the morning of if time allows. I think it made a difference both during and after. If you have more time, they have an awesome hip/hammy/lower back yoga that is amazing too.
