Hello! I've posted a little here and have gotten some great advice, but I don't think I ever really introduced myself. I've been running regularly for the past few years, but have been battling a couple of injuries recently. After a stress fracture and knee issues, I hope that I'm finally on the mend and will be able to get some more mileage in. I've run a couple of local 5ks, but that's it for races. I'd love to try a 10k and maybe even a half-marathon someday.
I love how supportive everyone is on this board. There is so much great inspiration here!
Hello! I am new to this myself too. A bit about me. BF of 4 years broke up with me right after we got in a car accident in September. He was more concerned about his Lexus than the fact that I needed knee surgery. I have spent my winter spending time with two guys, Ben and Jerry. Now I need to lose at least ten pounds before the warm weather when I can't hide under bulky clothes. I am getting around better with knee now and expect I am going to need to live at the gym to lose the weight. I hope you there are some good suggestions for getting back into shape.
Welcome - we're glad you are joining us! Do you you follow any kind of a training plan? Besides running, what other kinds of H&F activities do you enjoy?

I'm sorry you went through a tough time. I've definitely hung out with Ben & Jerry quite a bit myself!

I haven't really been following a training plan. I usually run 3-4x a week. Before my injuries I was running around 35-40 mpw, but I've cut back to 20-25 mpw. I'm trying to throw in some strength training to help prevent more injuries. I've been thinking about trying out yoga, pilates, or barre classes.
I'm curly. I've been in training for triathlons the last 6 weeks. Just competed in an indoor tri yesterday. I had a baby in Nov of last year, so the triathlon training is my motivation to get to the gym and lose the weight. I've lost roughly half my remaining baby weight and have another 10 lbs after that to go. I've been averaging a pound a week, which is decent enough.
My next planned race is in July, but I'm eyeing up a race at the end of April now, too. The difficulty is most of these events are not close and I'm exclusively BF, so it's hard to get the time to train and compete. The only tri near us is the 70.3 Iron Man. Not exactly in my league. LOL
I've run in a few 5Ks and one 8K previously. PR on the 5K was 30:10:33 in 2009. My 8K pace in 2012 was 56:18 (that was pushing my 1.5 year old in a stroller.. but bleah). I've also biked in non-competitive events - last year we did a 20 mile ride for the arts while pulling my 2.5 year old in a trailer and 14 weeks pregnant.
